Hello everyone! My name is Elle.
I'm 26 years old and I currently live in an Airstream travel trailer in the Pacific Northwest. I've been off almost all social media for a few years, but now I'm excited to start sharing again on this new platform.
I used to be a fashion blogger on Tumblr back around 2011-2014 when I was living in NYC. This was me back then:
I was 19 years old when I started posting outfit photos of myself online and progressively the more I posted these images and my blog grew, the less I felt like myself. I was advertising fast fashion brands, under-eating to stay thin, and after a few years had passed I looked around at what my life had turned into and wasn't happy with who I had become.
After graduating with a degree in photography from an art school in NYC, I deleted my fashion blog which I had been developing throughout the whole time I was in school and decided to stay away from sharing my life.
For a while I felt so lost and became so depressed that I couldn't eat so I continued to lose weight and became dangerously unhealthy.
It was around this time in 2014 that I knew I had to make some big life changes if I wanted to live and not let my depression, anxiety, and eating disorder ruin my life anymore.
I started reading self-help and spirituality books and started a meditation practice to finally take a look inside and see where all of this destructive behavior was coming from.
Slowly overtime I made the decision to start taking better care of myself. I started with food and went from eating small meals of processed junk food to actually learning how to cook whole healthy foods.
Once I started nourishing my body, the anxiety and depression I had been feeling for so many years faded away and I came to understand just how important nutrition really is.
Around that time I decided to also go vegan and stop supporting unethical clothing companies. I stopped buying new clothes, gave away all my leather and vintage fur to friends, and poured all of my attention into learning how to cook healthy plant-based food.
In 2016 I obtained a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition and started a new blog called Wholesomely Elle.
Then in 2017 my partner and I and our adopted rabbit, Violet, decided to ditch NYC and move into an Airstream travel trailer to live in full-time while we moved across the country from NYC to Seattle.
We filmed the whole trip and posted our videos on Youtube.
I started sharing my recipes on there as well as on Instagram but due to the algorithm changes on both of those platforms in 2017, I couldn't fully get into it, so when I heard about Steemit I decided to give it a try.
This is my first post and I can't wait to share more. I intend to post recipes, recipe videos, articles on overcoming anxiety and depression, what it's like to live minimally in an RV, vegan related content and more!
I'm so excited to be a part of this community.
Thank you for reading my story ♥
