Hello everyone!
I'm a quiet artist who likes to paint, especially portraits and landscapes (or faces and places).

Sometimes I make abstract-leaning pieces when I want art therapy, or if I'm trying a new technique or material because it's fun to create without worrying about chasing perfection.

Some details about me: I'm a 30-something American woman who's been making art since very early childhood. Aside from high school, I haven't spent too much time with other artists (mostly keep to myself). I graduated college with a degree in computer information systems, which is admittedly not very "artsy". Almost all of my art education has been self-guided, I've learned mostly from books and experimenting. At present, I work full-time at a mechanical services company as well.
Over the years I have experimented with a range of materials- watercolor, colored pencil, crayon, acrylic, marker, ink, among others. And there are so many more materials and techniques I want to use, at least once. Digital painting is the most recent thing for me to learn. Currently I use IbisPaint for that, and I'm looking forward to upgrading to a more robust app once I outgrow it. I see benefits of both digital and material forms of art and it's liberating to have options!

Artistically, I'm inspired by Nature's dynamic beauty (especially skies and the plant world), the crispness of graphic design, and the charisma of classical & ancient art. As for my style, I typically like to emphasize color and strongly defined forms to give my compositions a fresh, clean energy.
As artists, we should be willing to push boundaries and express ourselves in ways that are genuine to ourselves and our experience, and I respect artists who create from their own inner voice. Hive is a fantastic place to share & develop ideas about improving the world. By using art as a tool for positive change, I want to be involved in making some of those improvements.
I want to share that I started blogging on ssteam - it in 2016 (yes, I switched to Hive when Hive formed). That blog was all over the place on content since I wasn't clear yet about my focus. So it's phoenix mode with .
