Yes, you read it right—it’s either the obsessive compulsive character in me when I am told about yet another publishing venue, or it’s hope for freedom from editorial biases and corporate-political razors.
I have been in lifelong love with writing. Since age 12 when I started writing my own stories to today when I am a published author and a widely published news and article writer, running two blogs and contributing to many other publications, it’s been an unquenchable passion for the written word.
Among the ups and downs in my writing and publishing life, the past 4 years have been of great value as they shaped my worldview and pushed me with great force in the direction of critical thought and observation. I started looking at media closely and critically, questioning some of the most dogmatic “truths” on issues like vaccination, climate change, and most importantly, the objectivity and professionalism of mainstream media.
I either left or was kicked out from quite a few places. Reason? I was questioning. I was writing and questioning the one-sided views and reporting. And with each put-down, each termination, and each act of online coercion, I felt a new passion, a new hope for freedom of speech. I wanted to see and explore more places and be in those places by my word.
I reached a point where my regular editorial work combined with my editorship at a journal, two blogs, and multiple other publications made it literally tough to even think of stepping in a new place. And YET, here I am!
My friend Dave told me about Steemit and when he said a site where I can contribute my writing, I was on the url in a second.
Am I OCD really? Or am I so hopeful that freedom of expression is still intact-that decentralized writing can be accessible anywhere anytime? I don’t know the answer. What I am sure about is that I have joined Steemit and seriously thinking of leaving my thoughts here with readers. And for now that is what my hope and OCD both agree on.
See you all and hopefully bring you close to a new window of a view.
