What up fellow steemians!!! My name is Julius Reyes and I come from a beautiful, tiny little island in the west pacific, called SAIPAN, which is the capital of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands! We are located on the Eastern hemisphere of the (Round, not flat) planet. We got a bunch of cool stuff in our back yard, for one, we are situated inside the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur!! Also, we got the deepest spot in the ocean in our backyard too! The Marianas Trench, at 36,070 feet in depth!!! Another cool fact about Saipan is that it's where America's day begins!!! That's right!! I am writing this from the future!!!! We are a commonwealth under the United States and everyone who is born here is an American. English is usually the first language learned, but native tongues are Chamorro and Refalawasch, or Carolinian. The natives are the Chamorro and Carolinian people, who have inhabited the islands for many years before Magellan landed on our shores and the Spanish took control of the Islands. The CNMI has an extraordinary history, and plays a huge part of the US and the Allies victory of WWII.
I am currently working as an Enforcement Officer for the CNMI Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality under the Division of Coastal Resources Management. We are pretty much 'environment cops'. We regulate development of major construction and project sites, making sure they work with the conditions of the permits we give to assure minimal or no harmful of negative impacts to our islands environment. We also go out on the ocean and monitor marine sports activities, which we also regulate and grant permits for. It's a great career, and I work with awesome individuals and we all love what we do!!
When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me spending time, just kickin it with my family and friends, jamming some tunes on the guitar, going to the beach, cliff jumping, barbecuing, playing basketball, and partying and clubbing from time time. Life in the islands is a lot easier than living in the mainland, which I have experienced as well, living in Oxnard, CA and Las Vegas. It's way more laid back, and chill. Parking is free (everywhere), the beaches are usually minutes away from anywhere, the people are friendly and kind, we don't have much traffic, the sunsets are amazing, the food is amazing-er, and it's pretty much paradise!! So if you're ever thinking of going on vacation to a tropical setting, you should definitely consider coming to Saipan.
