Hey Steemit!
I signed up the other day and here I am. I don't know why I'm as excited as I am for this site, but I am. I've got good feelings about this and it's nice knowing that I, and everyone reading this, will be viewed as the older users when Steemit is massive.
Anyway, about me.
My name's Jack, and I'm freshly 21 years old. I live in Melbourne, Australia and I have my whole life.
I'm a student, currently doing a double degree - a bachelor of exercise science and a bachelor of sports management. Where that will take me, I'm not sure, but if I'm working in the sporting industry I'll be happy.
So it's pretty clear I like sport. That couldn't be more incorrect. I am obsessed with sport. Until recently when injuries got the better of me, I was constantly competing in all kinds of sport. Australian rules football, basketball, cricket, volleyball, skiing, water polo, track, cross country, swimming amongst other things. Nowadays that list is just down to basketball but I'd love to get back into football when I've got my body back in shape.
Considering I can't play much any more, I spend most of my time watching, reading about, or writing about sport. It's almost unhealthy. I'll watch hours of NBA every day. I'll go and watch Essendon play in the AFL each time we play in Melbourne. I'll sit on the couch for five days and watch Australia play test cricket. It's a great life I live.
If I'm not watching sport I'll usually be with my mates talking shit, drinking beer and cracking wise.
Things I'm looking forward to:
- Going skiing in a few weeks time. Spending about 16 days on the slopes this winter so I'm counting down the days.
- Travelling the world. I spent six weeks in Europe this time last year, but I can't wait to leave Australia for a good long while and see the world. The United States are next on my list. All I want to do is watch Boston play in the Garden, but I feel as though I'd love the American culture.
- Getting healthy. I've spent the last five years or so rehabbing my body. From back injuries, to knee injuries, to hip surgeries. I've had it all. Its been a slow process, but I'm fitter now than I have been since I was seventeen. It's going to take a while to get back to a satisfactory level, but I'm working on it.
I'd love to get to know some of you!
