Here's my GOALS post as promised. I know it’s already April but it’s still never too late for new year resolutions and I don’t believe in making new year resolutions only on the first day of the year.
I believe in continually revisiting your goals when you feel like something better comes along and you change these goals, make them better, more aligned with your overall vision and in a way, level up!
So now that I’ve stumbled upon Steemit, I was like “Hey, I want to give this a go. Since I am already planning content for various traditional social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, I might as well just post them on Steemit too”. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not like I have thousands or hundreds of thousands of followers on any channel. I’m quite literally the newcomer anywhere, but you never know what the future holds right? You've got to just keep going at it until something works.
I was previously working in a finance startup and quit due to some factors. Now that I have all this time but not quite enough money (though what is enough?), I have been diving head first into the crypto-verse and there are some projects that align with what I think the long term benefits of the blockchain are, and I have been investing in some of them, and Steemit is just another one of those!
As a person who wrote my mom and dad little love letters since I was a kid with little drawings, I’ve always expressed myself creatively. I want to be able to continue doing that as an adult. So after brainstorming certain ideas, one of the larger projects I have in mind is combining my love for both art and Harry Potter together. I want to create a series of Harry Potter illustrations or stickers this coming year, and hopefully be able to sell them on either a Print-on-Demand platform, or digitally on Etsy or Gumroad. If anyone has any tips to share about how I should go about distributing my digital art, please do comment below and share them with me! ☺️
That said, I’m looking to always develop my art and style or styles that I like and that are unique to me. I don’t think I am quite near there yet. I started off with traditional media and I’m generally good at colours with oil painting and watercolour. But then I got kind of bored of repeating the cycle of referencing a picture and interpreting it via oil paint or watercolour.
- I know that this in itself is a skill and that I can stylise it the way I want even with oil paint and watercolour, but I feel like I don’t have the ability to do that if I keep going through the motions of mechanically “replicating” a piece, if you know what I mean.
- I would like to explore my style with digital art and then perhaps once I gain my footing, it will be possible to transfer my style back into traditional media.
- Of course it won’t be a linear process and I will probably want to try alternating between the two, but I need to get into that rhythm!
I want to post content regularly on Steemit as well as other platforms consistently and regularly (enough). At the start, I will aim for 2-3 times a week. Let me know if that’s too little in order to gain traction on my account at the start. After I get the hang of it, I am thinking of upping the frequency to something like 5 times a week (it could be a mix of smaller and lengthier posts)
- For that, I need to come up with a content schedule and stick to it. How am I going to do that? I don’t know yet, because I am quite bad at sticking to what I’ve planned, though I am good at going with the flow, and switching my to-do tasks to fit whatever I think is more important to deal with at that moment. Hopefully though, as I find my footing, the schedule can be stuck to more consistently.
There are other smaller projects I have in mind that I am keen on pursuing, but I don’t have the motivation to do if I’m all isolated in my own home studio just hacking away at stuff. Things I have in mind are, learning embroidery and using shoes and clothes as my “canvas”, learning Art Therapy as a means of self-exploration and self-mastery (through e-courses that I’ve purchased), being able to create fan art as and when without feeling this huge inertia of not knowing where to start.
- For example, when I watch a film/ TV show (B99!), I would love to be able to recreate a short comic strip of scenes that I like, that resonated with me
- Or, when a new film is released in cinemas and I watch it and really like it, how do I go about capturing that in my art?
- How do I even express a quote that I like in art? Do I just write a post, do I use lettering, or do I incorporate some drawing? There are just so many possibilities I sometimes find it pretty overwhelming. So I hope that Steemit is a community that will be able to help with crowdsourcing ideas as well! If it is anything like Reddit, I guess I’d be off to a better start than Instagram.
I’m not sure if this is a big or small project: but I have been also interested in coding for the longest time since 2012, so I would like to be able to pick that up. To what extent, I am not sure yet. But I like to learn things according to the needs I have of using these skills. So far, I learnt how to use the Mac Terminal in order to set up a MasterNode. I know that’s not really considered coding, but it has re-ignited my desire to learn to code. So I will be frequenting free coding sites such as FreeCodeCamp.org and exercism.io to kickstart this learning process, and documenting it in the process.
I will also be uploading videos I’ve stitched together from travels, or from events that I attend, or just the day to day if I find it relevant and interesting. Or, like playing HP Wizards Unite for example ><.
Now I know it seems like a lot of projects and goals I want to undertake on top of documenting all of this on Steemit and other platforms. But I think this documenting is a way of holding myself accountable to the community, of things I want to accomplish and achieve!
So if you’re looking to follow someone that has a profile that sticks to posting just solely about crypto stuff, or solely about Harry Potter stuff, or solely about my art-making process, you’re in the wrong place! (though I’d still welcome you to stick around and see what I get up to). I want this profile to reflect my ever-evolving personality as a whole person - cos no one is ever static you know? And so please expect to see what I get up to in the day to day, or what catches my attention, I may even post about the writings I get into once in a while, which usually detail my reflections of a certain topic about life and about relationships; they tend to be born from my Morning Pages (If you don’t know what this is, check this out: https://littlecoffeefox.com/morning-pages-changed-life/)
But if you are curious about these topics that I am super passionate about, please do consider following me and joining me in the Foxcauldry Ride Along.
- I got the idea for this name because I’ve seen subreddits like the r/EntrepreneurRideAlong for people to share their journeys starting up a business. So I guess for me it’s the same, but my nickname’s foxcauldry, so Foxcauldry Ride Along it is.
- So if you have a better name for this journey I’m embarking on, please feel free to comment below and let me know.
- Also!! If you have any guesses as to which I chose foxcauldry, please do let me know as well!
- And if you think this might be of interest to your followers, don’t forget to resteem me!
That’s all folks, I hope you have a great week and till the next post. Byee!!~~
