Hi there fellow steemians!
I joined Steemit a couple of weeks ago and didn't actually know anything about this site or the fundamentals of blogging. Hence my first introduction post was really short and I didn't went into detail about myself or what I want to write about here on steemit. So I thought now that I am a bit more familiar with the whole space and how to make your posts look decent I will properly introduce myself. Plus I hit 100 followers a few days ago and I just want to let you all know how grateful I am for that. When I joined I couldn't imagine that anyone would care to read my posts, let alone become a permanent follower of mine.
So without further ado, let's talk about my incredible (haha) life:
I am 34 years old and I live in Vienna, Austria. I grew up in a small town in the mountains and moved to Vienna when I was 18 years old after I finished my short mandatory service in the army. I went to Vienna to study media sciences at the University of Vienna. I always loved films and theatre so I really looked forward to learning about the whole stuff that comes with it. But unfortunately I didn't like living in Vienna at all. All of my friends moved to other cities to study, so I was alone in this huge city and it turned out media sciences wasn't at all what I expected. It was just really boring. After a year I quit. I found an acting school that looked really great and I thought I would just give it a shot. You had to prepare a couple of monologues and perform them in front of the teachers and if they liked what they saw you would get accepted. And to my surprise, I got in!
With no acting training or experience whatsoever I would actually start an acting career. The school was great. I met a lot of really cool people there and I became really close friends with them. The next 3 years in Vienna were just great, maybe the best time of my life. The school gave me everything I missed when I was studying at the university. It was just great fun. After I finished my acting training I played theatre for 2 years or so. After that I got a couple of small roles in TV shows and movies. Until this day I can't believe how lucky I am. I always wanted to be part of a team that produces movies etc., but I never would have dreamed of being an actor that gets actually paid.
So I lived my life. Acted a lot, met my beautiful girlfriend I couldn't live without anymore, bought a small condo and just enjoyed life.
One day I decided to go to a Stand Up Open Mic and tell a couple of jokes I had written down. It went really great! Being on stage was nothing new to me, so I guess that helped me a lot. I fell in love with performing stand up that day. So i started going to open mics regularly and performed maybe two times a week for a couple of months. During that time I started writing my own hour long comedy special. When I finished it, I talked to a booker I know and tried to get it on stage. Few weeks later I am performing my special in front of 200 people. The feeling was just insane. I was so happy. I toured through Austria with my special for about a year and after that the next big news hit me.
A TV station in Austria wanted me as a writer for a comedy TV show they produce. I instantly agreed. I love writing and collaborating with people so it really was a no brainer for me. And that's where I am today. I work as a writer for a TV show, perform stand-up, act in some movies and try posting stuff I think about on steemit.
I came across steemit through the whole cryptocurrency market. I got into cryptos about 5 years ago. I just really love the concept of it. I am a strong believer in freedom of speech and expression, hence I think this whole technology can be a tool to get some much needed freedom back from an economic and social system that unfortunately took too much of it away from the people.
And that's it I guess. The short story of my life and how I turned out the way I am today. I hope you liked my little late introduction post. If you got any more questions just leave a comment down below. I will try to post about 5 pieces a week, so if you are interested you may check them out. Originally I thought I would only write about cryptocurrency and movies, but until now I posted a couple of book reviews, some thoughts on psychological problems, gaming and a short little guide on how to start out in comedy. You can say I am all over the place.
I wish all of you a great day!
Greetings,
ggorwell
