I've struggled with what to put up as my first post but I think I'll go with how I became a Crocheter. I remember telling myself a few years back that I was terrible at being creative with my hands.
I also remember my late mum pressuring me at the time to learn tailoring but I refused. One morning in 2016 or 2017 (I can't remember), I decided to do something productive with my free days as I was working a shift job at the time. It was definitely not tailoring (lol) so I visited Pinterest to get my creative juices flowing (Pinterest is a goldmine by the way).
I stumbled on Crochet (Ladies and Gentlemen, it was love at first sight!). I was there for another hour or more checking out patterns, creations with yarn. I was in awe!! I began the search for a tutor and found Keli through another crocheter (God bless them).
I remember my first class...lmao!! I struggled but I was enthusiastic and willing to learn. I remember going home to put in another hour or more of practice after each class and would come for my next class with new knowledge from YouTube.
It wasn't easy juggling work, classes and other responsibilities at the time but the experience was worth it. I started creating new things, my friends would ask me to make them hairbows, brooches...I remember making a lot of crochet projects and I would stare at these beauties and wonder how I didn't realize the gifts in my hands earlier.
Crochet is a gift to me as it has given me the opportunity to meet awesome people. All I wanted to do was learn something and try something creative but here I am with even more than I bargained for. I'm indeed grateful.
To everyone that will read this, it may sound cliché but I'll say it anyway... Do not underestimate yourself and what you can achieve. It's easier when you put your heart to it and like me, you'll have more than you even bargained for.
I hope you've enjoyed reading this as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
Stay safe... Love and Light always.
