It has been 20 days since I joined Steemit. I have been having a love-hate relationship with Steemit. More on this in the next post. First let me introduce myself. I have been postponing my #introduceyourself post for more than 20 days now. So finally I decided to pen it down.
I am Gokul Nagabandla(Family name) Krishnaiah(Dad's name) or Gokul.N.K in short. I go by the handles gokulnk or nkgokul on most of the internet portals. and would be contempt when I become a teacher who can make an impact in atelast a handful of students who will go on to make this world a better place. I am student, teacher, blogger, coder, numophile, polyglot and a wannabe entrepreneur.
I am a student
I am curious by nature and would like to know more about anything that interests me and I am not already aware of. I am a quicklearner and would love to know about all the things that interests me in this world. Whenever I am learning something I always think "If I had to teach this to somebody how would I do?", this would be help me in understanding the concepts better. I would like to be a "student for life".
I am a teacher
I have always wanted to be a teacher. I did a small stint as a teacher for Pre University students for three months and I loved that experience. Very soon I would like to go back to teaching again. Whenever I am teaching something to somebody I always think "If I were to lean this myself does what I am teaching make sense?", this would help me in making sure that I convey the thoughts clearly. If I am a teacher I would never consider retiring because I would be doing what I love the most.
I am a blogger
I like to write because it helps me streamline my thoughts and it makes me happy as I can reach out to various people. Blogging helps me find people who have similar thoughts and I can have interesting conversations with them. I used to blog on http://gokulnk.blogspot.in/ Now I will completely move to Steemit.
I am a coder
My first experience with coding was when I recreated the DAVE game using BASIC. I had completed building two levels of it. I have enjoyed coding since then. Post my graduation I have worked on Java for for 2 years and post that I have been actively engaged in Drupal coding and delivering Drupal projects. You can find my profiles on https://www.drupal.org/u/gokulnk and https://github.com/nkgokul You can find few of my technical presentations on http://nkgokul.github.io/slides/#/
I am a numophile
I love numbers and I can get high making sense of numbers & finding patterns in random data. Though I have not spent a lot of time working with numbers whenever I have spent time I have loved it. http://gokulnk.blogspot.in/2013/09/india-map-of-sex-ratios-districtwise.html and http://gokulnk.blogspot.in/2013/06/hacking-karnataka-election-results.html are the two interesting things I did with numbers. If I postpone becoming a teacher I would like to work on BigData and Machine learning probably.
I am a polyglot
I am a polyglot both off and on computers. I can converse in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Sanksrit, Hindi and English. I can decode Morse Code and read Braille with my fingers (Haven't tried both these of late though). I am learning German now. In computers, I can code in Java, php, javascript, nodejs and python.
I am a wannabee entrepreneur
I am a cofounder of http://aziteez.com/ a custom merchandise company with a niche in kannada designs. We are also planning to go generic so if you have a good line buzz me we can make a tee for you. I am also the coproducer for a movie in kannada the plot of which is very close to my heart.
While writing this article I just realised that I had not spent time in solitude (lost in free thoughts) for the last 12 months. So this post helped me reminisce all the time I spent pursuing my passions and a reminder that I have not been allocating enough time to them of late. I think this post has served its purpose :)
I would like to end this post with a design that our designer made for our latest teeshirt release.
