I’m Lyle and I’m a Chemical Engineer by profession.
I love the sciences which explains my career choice, but outside of that I do have an interest in the arts as well. I was once a doe-eyed kid entering college and a gazillion cups of coffee (and tears) later I came out a hardened engineer. I did enjoy my time there since I really have a passion for chemistry but I also discovered a lot of things that piqued my interest outside of my then scientific orbit.
Through friends, I discovered photography. I learned that it was not just about pointing your camera at something and pressing buttons. It was more than just framing random subjects into an interesting composition. Also, you should not let your gear dictate you. There’s a saying that “The best camera is the one that you have with you” and I completely agree with that. Photography is about telling a story that only a picture knows the language to. It’s about capturing the essence of your subject and exposing them without even muttering a single dialogue. It was revelatory for me and ever since then, I have always wanted to try it out for myself.
Last year, I saved enough to buy myself a mirrorless Fuji camera and I just fell in love with photography all over again. Here are a few photos that I took with my beloved Fuji.

One thing I also rediscovered was writing. I feel like as millennials, we are in such a turbulent and colorful transient period in time that to not say something about it is such a wasted opportunity. I’ve always wanted to share my thoughts and musings to the world but I never had the chance to or the right audience to share it with. Doing this blog feels like getting to finally scratch this creative itch I’ve had for a very long time. And I feel like the Steemit community is a good place to express those ideas that I’m really passionate about.
And I’m really passionate about a lot of stuff. I love travelling, food, hiking, books, anime, Game of Thrones, Pokemon, Ed Sheeran, memes, The Legend of Zelda and The Big Bang Theory to name a few. I’m a Nintendo fan boy at heart and I believe that Nintendo is the best and if you disagree, we can’t be friends. Hahaha. I’m kidding. Seriously though, Nintendo is the best!
