Have you ever been so passionate of something that you would die to have it? Have you ever been so avid to do something for someone? Have you ever been so dedicated of what you do just to reach the dream you've ever wanted? How ambitious can you be to be somebody?
Hello everyone! ^^ I am Honeylet, living in the beautiful island of Cebu, Philippines! My workmates
and
brought me here and I got curious what Steemit is all about so here I am! :)
I have always been a dreamer (by Carpenters - I so love them) of success. Since I was a child, my mother always pushed my limits and tells me to never stop chasing my dreams - just what all mothers say to their children.
I was born and raised in a small town in the south called "Boljoon" - the town before "Oslob" where the whalesharks are throning. My town is full of love, kindness and compassion. I love to play in the waves along the seashore with my brothers and sisters when we get off from school. Just like any other kids, we always love to see our mom and dad happy together going to picnics.
I am the eldest among the 5 siblings and I was kinda forced to become a responsible "a-te" (big sister in English) after my dad passed away 9 years ago (oh c'mon don't even think about my age) LOL. So this is my family - my mom, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. My brothers have kids - no wife. HAHAHA. My mom lost a tooth so her smile is a bit conservative from us. LOL. This picture was taken 2 years ago. This is our very first picture together as a family. They are the source of my strength everyday.
When my dad left us, my mom left us too after two months (no she did not die - I mean she ran away from us). She never told us her reasons why she did that. She just left. She didn't take any of her children with her when she fled. Her children, us, HEART-BROKEN - didn't know what to do, LOST in the wilderness. I cried every night. I had so many questions. Why? How? When? Where?
Long story short, I moved to the city (106 km away from my hometown) not to pursue college but to look for a job and support my siblings (they were still in high school and elementary). I got into different jobs. I used to be a band singer. I burned candles at both ends in these days. (Rehearsals)
I was once a saleslady in a Chinese merchandise that only pays 120 php (2.387 usd) for 12 hours. I couldn't recall how I got there but anyway, I needed to get a job for my family. Then, I worked in a Burger shop that pays the same. And I got into Mactan Economic Processing Zone as a sewer in a Japanese company (which pays better).
Finally, I had met some people along the way and have helped me get into the BPO industry. I didn't have a degree when I started working at the industry but I was so blessed to get an opportunity. I worked my fingers to my bones trying to be a good bread winner but it was never enough.
Working in the call center has never been easy to anyone. My morning is their night and my night is their morning (time difference). It was always like that for 2 years, got into some vices then I got sick. So, I decided to resign and went home.

We are the wackiest siblings ever!
My wonderful aunt (dad's sister on the first right) took care of all of us until my siblings graduated from high school. I love her. She's the coolest!
When I felt better, I decided to go back to the city and this time, pursue college! :) wooohhooo! To start with, I didn't have a single cent in my hand BUT that did not stop me to chase my dreams because I got a scholarship! yaaayyy! :) I got into the state university and paid only 30% of my tuition fee. This time I focused on the main goal. I didn't have any boyfriends! HAHAHAHA.
So there I studied, worked as a part-time English teacher online, traveled twice a year (will be in my next postings), I finished a degree - Bachelor of Arts in English and became the first degree holder in the family! :) wootwoot!
Wait! It didn't stop there. I got a job in the university as an English teacher (part-time). I took some units in Education to be partly legible to teach college. Now on my way to my Master's degree.

My life has always been roller coaster and I am enjoying the ride. :) I was lost but now I am found.
I look forward to inspiring people through my writings on Steemit, tell them to never stop chasing their dreams. You can always surpass all the obstacles through determination. You can always do everything you want with good intentions in your heart, with the right motivation and the passion to reach your goals. You can be somebody in your own way. Make your weakness your strength to become the person you wanna be.
I hope you are inspired by my story. Let's keep Steeming! :)
PS: I met my mom again after 5 years. :) You wanna hear it? I'll see you in my next posting. God bless! ^^
