Last night, a few minutes before midnight, I was introduced to Steemit out on the rooftop. After three too many Picante de la Casas, or more commonly referred to as spicy margaritas, at Soho House in Chicago Melissa filled me in. And from what I follow, this platform seems to be genius. And I don't use that word lightly.
A little about me, I am a 31 year old, living with my boyfriend, his best friend, and our regal bullmastiff "puppy" in Chicago.
I went to college at Arizona State, moving there from my childhood home of Leawood, Kansas.
I am obsessed with backpacking, adventure, and newness to a fault. I also love understanding people's minds, and I really also love visuals like fashion. Great photography mixed with great fashion energizes me. I love beautiful imagines.
I did a stint on ABC's The Bachelor, sent home in an embarrassing amount of tears by Ben Flajnik, the 16th leading man of the show in its 6th week. I promptly moved to LA, not to capitalize on The Bachelor's 15 seconds but because of my newness obsession. I craved an adventure.
I explored the west coast for a year, and moved back and have been living in Chicago ever since, with a few breaks to go backpacking whenever I can manage.
I also like to dye my hair...a lot.
I honestly don't know what the black stuff is on my hand.
I probably drink too much, travel too much, say 'like' too much, and think too much, but I am not a big endorser of moderation.
I hope to reinforce here and in my life that humans don't need to be perfect to be worthy.
Choosing the messy pieces of life rather than the buttoned-up facade adds realness and rawness and that is so beautiful. We create our experience in this world and we aren't meant to do it exactly right everyday and that's okay and I think it's actually inspiring. I'm always drawn to the ones who are a little bit off, but aren't we all?
I'm really excited to get to know you all. I like this community already.
