Devaluing Happiness.
Why most of us devaluing happiness?
According to Raj Raghunathan, the author of the book called "If you are smart, why aren't you happy?".
We devalue happiness for the sake of other things. Other things like Money, Fame, Power and etc. We tend to think that these things are the most important and these will make us happy. With the combination of all, we become so aware and scared that once we step in to our happiness other things like money, fame, power, and whatever you could think of will just be vanished forever. Just by doing little things that's going to create happiness, is also a big deal.
Have you ever watched the movie "Aladdin"?
Remember the part when Genie asked Aladdin for his 3 wishes? Let say you are Aladdin, what 3 wishes you want to be granted?
I have done a small survey just for this article, 10 out of 10 people did not include "Happiness" with their 3 wishes. It is highly likely to be:
- "I want to be RICH"
- "I want to be FAMOUS"
- "I want to control the world"
The reason why, is that we assume that these are "Happiness". We let distraction confused our mind, But when you ask yourself "What is Happiness?".
1 out of 10 people, may answer the question but most of us will just be clueless. We don't know the answer because once we find out what it is, it is hard to believe. Some of us may have to give up other value, just to be happy. But for some us, this is impossible.
So, how do we get rid of that thought?
1 Step to Happiness:
Define you own Happiness. Tell a story.
You must start by having a peace of mind. And learn how to let go.
Prioritizing-but not Pursuing- Happiness.
I hope this article will help, specially for those who seek for their own happiness.
Good Luck!
