Introduction
Hello, my name is Ivan, I'm a 21 year old university student with many interests in arts and ways of creatively spending time. My major interests are origami, knitting/crocheting, and solving puzzles.
Origami
I've been folding origami models for as long as I can remember, using it as an art of time travel whenever I felt bored. Over time it became so important to me there wasn't a day where I didn't make at least some simple model since it brings me joy and relaxation. Nowadays I teach origami in a high-school and I used to teach it in an elderly home when I had more time.
My favorite forms of origami are modular and tessellations, modular origami uses multiple sheets of paper to form a single model such as this:
Origami tessellations use a base grid(usually square or triangle) on top of which patterns are pleated like this:
I also like traditional single sheet models my favorite being the kawasaki rose by toshikazu kawasaki, I've folded probably a few hundred of different sizes, materials and finishing touches and have been trying to improve it for the past 4 year, here are some of my more recent attempts:
Knitting/Crochet
My sister taught me how to knit around 7 years ago, after some time I found a pattern I really enjoy and have been using it to make many scarves, blankets and even a sweater. at first I wasn't very interested in crocheting but began liking it more and more as time went on, it uses less materials than knitting and can take more time depending on the wool size. Nowadays I knit when I watch movies and crochet when riding in the tram since it's compact, I love making stress balls and made a few hats, hopefully I'll get better in time.
I hope to find new interests here and find people with similar interests.
