Hello! My name is Chrissy, though I also respond to and sometimes prefer Jack, and I'm a nerd who does things like introduce myself to an unknown community with a Star Wars figure on my shoulder.
You'll quickly discover I have a Thing for personality categorization systems, and since that's an easy snapshot of a person, here's my list for whoever gets the references: INFJ, Enneagram 8w7 (probably), Tritype 458, Scorpio, Slytherin, Captain/Detective/Storyteller/Engineer/Mystic/Warrior/Jack/Shapeshifter. That last long list is from Caroline Myss's system of archetypes, which I'm currently studying in order to become a certified consultant. So far, it's been an overwhelming and enlightening journey.
Professionally, I'm currently an art model (yes, the nude kind) and a reiki practitioner. I've previously been employed as a computer technician, a camp counselor, an animal care specialist at a pet store, a Chinese language tutor, and a purveyor of adult toys at home parties. I think the label "Jack of all Trades" that's followed me around for most of my life is well-deserved.
I consider myself both a mystic and a skeptic, and I don't subscribe to any particular religion. In fact, when I was a small child, my mother put me in a Sunday school once while she went to an Easter service, and afterwards I told her in no uncertain terms to never take me back there ever again! Thankfully, my mother was never much of a church goer, and had no problem with following that instruction from my three year old self. I don't personally recall that incident, but clearly I've always had some opinions as far as spirituality is concerned. At this point, I can find value in most every religion, even if I don't follow any completely.
I'm excited to get to know this community that seems to, for once, truly be more about community than sales tactics. As much as I like to write and share thoughts, traditional blogs are something I've never been able to keep up with. I think my immediate favorite thing about this community is that comments are valued, not just posts. To me, a good discussion has infinitely more value than a single editorial opinion. I'm looking forward to talking with all of you!
