I was introduced to their motorized popular defense forces by the network of local governments.
I was subtly forced to work as chief editor on raw video footage about a violent motorized group (TUPAMARO) to create short documentary to clean their reputation of armed violence and secrecy.
I witnessed this group's strategies to counteract "traitors" and "counter-revolutionary" people.
I became aware of their surveillance power to inform their leaders.
I became aware of their capability to target people randomly to steal from them using guns intended for 'defending' the government.
I became aware of their capability to target, threaten and kill people, remaining unaccountable.
When the video project was finished and I was allowed to go home, I was told to go to a meeting later that week with these armed group to show them the finished video. I opted not to go to a meeting with that many dangerous armed people. The video produced is linked below.
I decided to not attend meetings by the motorized group and understood that I should not denounce the information I had on the Municipality in Mariño (Turmero) until I left Venezuela.
Trial against murderers of my Aunt and investigations on many officials and former officials in El Tigrito municipality were on-going, all belonging to the same political party as the municipality I was assisting now, the chavista United Socialist Party of Venezuela, referred to as the PSUV.
I had already been offered part in profiteering business ventures in partnership with people in the political team in Mariño, an apartment for which I had to sign a secret list, and further exclusive and clandestine benefits to gain their empathy. I failed to accept any of these offers to participate in pillage and illegal profits.
