Hey there!
My name is Jarrett Coggin and this is my first post for the steemit community. I'm looking forward to learning more about what Steem can do and how it can empower people to learn, share, and earn in what I believe is "the next economy". The more I learn about blockchain technologies and what they are being used for, the more excited I get, which is why I knew I had to participate more on a daily basis.
I have a background in technology in general as it's been a hobby of mine almost my entire life. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Neumont College of Computer Science. I have a strong interest in video games, livestreaming via Twitch, recording videos to post on YouTube (switching over to DTube now), and getting my hands dirty with new technology (like cryptocurrency and blockchain).
My interest in blockchain technologies started shortly after Bitcoin first came onto the scene. I played around with mining Bitcoin in the early, early days, back when you could mine hundreds or thousands a day with very little effort. Back then, I didn't think much of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general as I thought it would be quickly squashed through regulation or made illegal in some fashion. I also didn't see the value in it as I didn't know just how corrupt various countries and financial markets are, so I really didn't understand just how valuable cryptocurrency could be. I kept an eye on Bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies/altcoins in general, but didn't get actively involved until late 2017.
Now, I've started to see where blockchain technologies can take us, from helping prevent things like voting abuse and election rigging, enabling less complicated and more provable land/real estate rights, content tracking/attribution, and so much more. I can only imagine what else people can come up with based on using blockchain for new (and old) purposes.
By joining the steemit community, I'm looking to learn how blockchain technology in general is used on a more day-to-day basis while also hoping to establish myself in a few ways. I'm looking to share my expertise that I have developed as part of my professional career (Build Engineering, Release Engineering, DevOps Engineering, and helping companies move faster through automation). I'm also looking to share high quality content around hobbies like streaming on Twitch, learning and growing via personal finance, and more.
Some general goals I have for the next decade of my life are:
I'd love to learn more about everyone else in the steemit community. I'm also going to start posting content to DTube as well to get in on that platform in the "early days". I'd also love to hear from you to learn more about each of you and what you'd like to learn from me!
