Hi steemit,
I'm Javier and I have been in steemit for a while, mostly passive. Due to my interest on cryptocurrencies and other philosophical factors I have decided to become a more active and create value for the ecosystem.
My background
As for this date, I work as an Android developer. I have a Telecommunications Engineering degree with a MSc. in Wireless Communications who loves mobile solutions, and what can be more mobile than our phones nowadays? That's how I became an Android developer.
I love the ideas behind cryptocurrencies, specially when you see many countries struggling with censorship and inflation such as Venezuela, the one I grew up in. I see a lot of opportunities for those who live there and I think it's important to educate people in that matter. As I always say, education is the key for everything. Knowledge is power.
Blogging and online income
Through the years I lived in Venezuela, I saw how it was becoming worse in economic terms. Therefore I started digging into opportunities to make some money online. It was back in 2007 when I started a blog at blogspot (Blogger.com later on) and then migrated to my own domain (mrjavo.com) where I documented my journey about making money online, what worked and what didn't work. I had certain success in finding ways to generate some income online, which was incredibly helpful since the country already had implemented some currency controls, although it was not at all as bad as it is today.
At that time of course nobody knew about Bitcoin. Nowadays, I feel extremely empathetic with all these cryptocurrency projects on the sphere, since I know the struggle some people in the world are facing and how their life can improve by introducing and implementing such things. Just to give an example, the average Venezuelan salary to this date is around $2 a month, and given the food shortages the country is facing and due to the hyperinflation it's obvious that it's not any enough to live. Steemit could be one of the ways for people facing such problems to get that extra income that can mean the difference between eating dinner everyday or not. And that just blows my mind.
Photography
I also love photography! I will probably be adding some of my work on the photography category. I love landscape photography, I think nature is amazing and even though people do their best there's no way to capture the essence of the scene in front of your eyes. The light, the smells, the sounds.. It's impossible to capture all in one picture but we do our best :)
Wrapping it up
I am not sure how often I am going to post or about what subject(s), or even if I'm gonna start a DTube/Youtube channel! I feel very eager to give back to the community (I am looking at you Everipedia) and I think it's gonna be something about cryptocurrencies/blockchain/programming, photography or life in general. I am a very analytical person and I could just take a topic and speak about it, of course it's all more fluent if it's something I am interesting on.
