As I sit in solitude at my jeweler’s bench, contemplating my next step, I can't help but think I'm so lucky to be here. Alone with my ideas, my inspirations, my music playing softly in the background. Everything in that moment seems perfect. Peaceful. This is my realm, my zone. The ideas flow freely here and I am at my best.
I'm Jennifer Wood and I'm a silversmith living on the west coast of beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
For as long as I can remember I have used my two hands to make beautiful objects. I have a passion for jewelry design and enjoy all aspects of the jewelry making process. I have been making jewelry for as long as I can remember, only back in my younger years it was made using simpler tools and materials.
I took my first silversmithing course when I was about 18 and I was immediately hooked. After numerous jewelry classes and a diploma in Jewelry Art & Design, I knew I found my place in the world. Designing and creating was where I wanted to be. Where I was most comfortable. Where I was me.
Being an entrepreneur came naturally for me. The moment I started my first real job at age 15 was the same moment I knew I was destined to work for myself.
I worked a variety of jobs while always maintaining my focus on jewelry design. I eventually reached a point in my life where I decided to jump in with both feet and quit my day job. It was official! I was now a starving artist.
20 years later I am still designing, creating and successfully marketing my jewelry. I strive for perfection in every piece I make. My work is sold and worn throughout the world thanks to Etsy and international shipping! I love being an entrepreneur and all the challenges that come with it. I love my hands for they are my greatest tool.
I am an artist at heart. I can't imagine doing anything else in this life. I was born to do this.
