Hello Steemians!
My name is Josiah, and I am not living the normal 18 year old life.
First, I'll give you some backstory.
This is me. I was born in Alaska, moved a number of times, and then eventually ended up in Texas where I spent most of my middle school and high school years. When I thought of life post-graduation, I didn't exactly have any idea of where I would end up or what I wanted to do with my life. I didn't feel like spending money (or my parents money, to be more exact) on a degree that I wasn't sure I needed or wanted. So, I decided to take a "gap year".
The idea of this gap year (a year of break between high school and college) didn't really take shape until my mom came up with the crazy idea that led us to where we are now.
"Let's live in a RV", she said. "We can travel full-time, live the life we've always dreamed of."
This seemingly crazy idea came as a response, or more accurately, a solution to a problem we have struggled with for a while. We didn't enjoy living in Texas as much as we had hoped to, and we wanted to leave...very badly. Before this solution, we couldn't exactly decide where we wanted to live for the next indeterminable amount of time. By living full-time in a RV we can effectively live everywhere and nowhere at the exact same time. No need for long-term commitments to a single location. We wanted to be nomads; we could live wherever the wind took us.
We have actually been on this crazy adventure for the past five months. Back in May, we sold our house in Texas, bought a 26-foot travel trailer, bought a big ol' Texas-sized truck, and headed out on the journey of a lifetime. Right now, as I type this to you, we are in a small California town north of Los Angeles.
So far, we have traveled from Texas all the way up to Alberta, west to British Columbia, down through Washington and Oregon, into California, and everywhere in between. And don't worry! I will absolutely be updating Steemit with my travels over the past summer.
As we continue our travels, I will be posting about the amazing places we visit (both natural and urban). I absolutely love to take photos, so you can see them sprinkled throughout my posts or even follow my Instagram (josiahtbonner)!
All of the photos you see will be taken by me (other than if the picture is of me, of course).
I am very excited to share all of my experiences with everyone here!
If you would like to share the adventure with me and my family, follow me! There are many places to be seen, and I intend to share them with you all.
