Hello everyone,
my name ist Roman Pfeifer I was born in Freiburg/Germany. I studied instrumental composition as well as electronic composition. Nowadays I teach notation, music theory and analysis and composition of electronic music at the Folkwang University of the arts in Essen and live in Cologne.
In 2012 I founded the interdisciplinary chamber music theatre company KAMMERELEKTRONIK with which I have been realizing concert performances ever since then. Our work is dedicated to the connection of sound, instrumental gesture, dance movement, voice, light and space.

For me, composing is a full contact sport. Composing allows me an explorative occupation with music, art, theory, contexts, discourses, technologies, history - in short, with the most diverse forms of knowledge - and allows me to inspire myself over and over again with things I didn't even know I was interested in.
And composing also allows me to bring in this knowledge, to create, write and produce things that I want to hear and see, in short: enjoy the privilege to follow my own agenda and to put ideas into practice within the bounds of the possibilities that are to be expanded.
The foundation of Kammerelektronik (german for: Chamber-Electronics) was preceded by many years of artistic research, which today allows me to think, design and develop completely different things. To take the risk to shape everything - from the music, the movements to stage and light - and not to keep me out of any aspect of a performance: from the choice of performers, the instrumentation and the space to the documentation of the performance in sound, word and image. All this in order to create an art that is equally demanding and uncompromising, while at the same time allowing many types of access and being readable to many people.

Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically.

Kammerelektronik brings the viewer close to the action and enables a perception that is visual, auditory and tactile at the same time. The company, with its associated members from contemporary music, improvisation, early music, electronics, dance and physical theatre, is changing its formation from piece to piece.
Kammerelektronik creates a common space in which skills are more difficult to identify, which makes less spectacular demands on the body and in which, instead of virtuoso performances, relaxed control and attention to detail count. The work of art, in the transitory event of the performance, establishes an imaginary reality. Apart from common formats, day-to-day operations and proven methods, the aim is to create spaces in which different ways of thinking and working can come together, keeping an open mind for the unexpected to occur. A framework in which other references can be detected and other structures can be developed.
3rd minds
To and for all our collaborators at all times third minds everywhere.

Besides the possibility to get in contact with other people, social media is for me the possibility not only to present the finished works of art but also to let people participate in the process of making art. A way (more audiovisually than in text form) to talk about ideas, research, influences and contexts, to think about tools and working methods, to share experiments, rehearsal work and sketches and to show different aspects of performances - music, actions, sounds, notations, pictures etc. Apart from their obvious shortcomings, which I will not list here, all platforms I've worked with so far have proven to be very unsatisfactory tools for me to present my work in all its variety. And so I hope (time will tell) that Steemit with his integration of different platforms like Dsound, Dtube, Steepshot etc. will prove to be more suitable.
If you would like to, you can find all kinds of sounds, photos, videos, notations etc. on the website of Kammerelektronik, and we are also on other platforms like:
