Just came out surveying a river in the heart of Sabah and realized that I have not initiate my Steemit account for "Konexer" so, here we go! Pardon me for the messed up name on the bonnet of my "112Xplorer" - wind picked up as soon as my camera was airborne..
The Konexer is still a One-Min-Show at the moment.. Hence I will interchange the use of "I" and "We", depends on the context.. "I" is one ecologist turned nature explorer and conservo-socio entrepreneur from Malaysia, with extensive field experience in Singapore and North West Borneo, but "I" shall leave the intro on my personal account, and focus on the "We" here ;)
Konexer.org started exactly three months ago, and has been flying under the radar. The website is meant to be a portal for nature-based program, while the name "KONEXER" refers to people aspired to educate and inspire others for a deeper understanding and connection with our natural world, a.k.a. the "nature-connectors". This initiative aims to support IUCN’s global movement #NatureForAll, founded on a simple idea: the more people experience, connect with, and share their love for nature, the more support there will be for its conservation in the future.
Not contend with your "typical" nature-appreciating activities, our program will emphasize on involving the local or indigenous communities living next to or within natural areas because, as they have managed, protected, nurtured, and shaped their land for generations, they have the best knowledge and motivation to preserve these natural resources. Deservingly they should benefit from the activities of sharing with nature lovers, who enjoy learning about their knowledge of the environment. In other words, eco-education through the real eco-tourism (or the other way round?)
Feel free to get in touch with us, whether if you would like us to recommend or customize for you an off-the-path itinerary that makes your exploration meaningful and with some cool, educational experience, while helping in conservation of nature environment and ecosystem with empowerment of native communities; or if you would like to collaborate and contribute your expertise by creating and designing content; surveying and developing nature-connecting locals; or leading expedition to discover and connect more people with nature (i.e. be a KONEXER!). We will be more than happy to discuss potential collaboration to help reconnect more people with nature.
