Let me introduce myself as my first entry on Steemit!
My name is Lisa. I am in search of a bigger purpose in life beyond the 9-5 job as an entrepreneur, writer, academic nerd at heart, powerlifter, artist, and most importantly a future policy maker. I want to become an influencer and leave my legacy behind as a leader to inspire those around me. I am just starting off in this very long journey of finding myself post graduate school and living the adult married life. For the past couple of months, I've been dealing with at least 100 rejections over and over again in different job fields. The rejection that hurts the most is I was so close to having a local news station position, but I wasn't hired because of my political background. I was almost hired as an adjunct political science professor last summer too. I had too many "no's" until I realized that I am settling for a less than extraordinary life, because I've been told to follow the crowd of living the normal life. I always desire more in my life since I do not want to settle in a cubicle. I will always stay true to myself and my convictions no matter what happens to me down the road whenever that time comes for me to go after my desire to help my community and run for political office.
Now I am trying to pick myself back up from the brokenness of rejection by taking this opportunity from Steemit to get my name out there as a content writer and future political commentator again. My love for writing to tell a story from a different perspective from the mainstream personalities and the willingness to speak up for the voiceless took me far in my academic journey from my associates degree all the way to my masters degree from New York University.
Out of all the op ed pieces, articles, and my proud achievement my masters thesis/book called "Trending High: The Call for Drug Policy Reform", I am ready to write and get paid about what I love the most: bringing up the issues affecting my community/the US, travel/foodie spots, entertainment, the news, relationship advice, drug policy reform, faith, fitness, my weightloss/powerlifting transformation journey, and even me learning about crytocurrency.
I am here to inspire you, the reader wherever you live in this beautiful world. We are a people of hope and I believe in my own quote, "Honor the struggles and dream bigger". No matter where you are in your journey in life, believe that the struggles you are facing is a part of the journey to lead you to your dreams. I am a believer in going through the clash of the waves of failure and defeat for you to rise up to your dreams.
Tell me more about yourself readers, what are your dreams? What are you doing to achieve these dreams? Short term goals? Long term goals? I am here to tell you not to give up and keep on going. Again, honor the struggles and dream bigger.
