Greetings Steemarians, here’s the thing.
I first took an interest in Steemit in May of 2017 thinking it would be a good place to post photos. The idea being to get some exposure and improve my skills. I posted a photo to a street photography photo challenge, or so I thought. Long story short I hadn’t done my homework and completely botched the post. Frustrated, I walked away from it until about a week ago, at which time I did a little research, posted another photo and it actually landed in the desired place, although not exactly how I envisioned it.
Upon further investigation I now understand that I need to introduce myself, so here it goes.
My name is Bill. I live on my sailboat in Vancouver, BC. The loneranger handle just popped into my mind when I was opening the account so I went with it. I like to work as much as I can in the winter and spend my summers sailing the BC coast, visiting old friends and making new ones.
I spent many years as a diamond driller, my work taking me from Canada’s Arctic Circle to some distance below the equator in South America. Best of all it afforded me lots of time off to travel and experience different cultures for extended periods of time. Something that’s difficult to accomplish on a two week vacation to an all inclusive. Don’t get me wrong, the all inclusive has it’s place, it’s just that I prefer the challenge of not knowing what’s over the horizon.
I’ve become disenchanted with the growing censorship I see creeping into all aspects of life, especially social media. Facebook, youtube and amazon tracking your every move. I can’t see how any good can come from it.
Steemit looks like an amazing platform, one where you can post what you like and be screened by your peers. I plan to start off posting some of my photos. I may write a line or two. When summer time comes I hope to document my travels around the coast with words and photographs.
I’m jumping in with both feet so please be patient with me if I don’t follow all the proper etiquette. All advise and constructive criticism welcome.
Thanks for checking out my intro and I hope to make some new friends.
