Hello there! Creating this second self introduction blog to give you a bit more background about myself.
My name is Melanie - 28, from the Philippines, newbie gardener, auditor by profession.
My mom is a Filipina and my dad is a half-chinese, half-filipino which makes me 25% Chinese, 75% Filipina. Did I get the math right? I speak Tagalog, Pangasinan (a native dialect), English but not Chinese language. 😄
My colleagues at work call me tiny-little-Melai. I'm skinny, 5-foot-1-inch tall (or short?), and my weight is....confidential. Comes busy season at work, victorious, I couldn't stop shrinking. Unlike other people who eats a lot when stressed, I can't really force myself to eat properly when deadlines are running towards me. Bad. I know. 😬 Being an asian, I eat rice every meal (lunch and supper) but I don't really eat breakfast (another bad habit to break). I love vegetables and quit eating red meat 9 months ago -- vegetarian wannabe. ☺️
I currently live in the Cayman Islands. I work here as an auditor and I've been here for one and a half years now. This is a tiny island and its nearest island neighbor is Cuba. Fun fact about this island: Seven Mile Beach, the most famous beach in the island, is actually 5.5 miles long. Sea turtle is Cayman's beloved symbol. Iguanas have right of way (and they eat my plants too 😔😅).

I started gardening two months ago and I really have fun checking on my plants every single day. I am growing tomato, eggplant, chinese cabbage (pechay), spinach, basil, calamansi, sweet potato, okra, parsley, thyme and I also have lemon grass. 🌱
This is an old photo of my backyard garden. I will update you soon... Someone build a cage for me to deter iguanas from eating my plants. 🚫
What else? Hmmm.. I am currently learning Portuguese ~ Tudo bem? 😬 Tenha uma bom dia!! 🌻
Til the next post! Keep steeming ☺️
Cheers,
Melai
