Its pretty much my number one post. Given saying “hello!”, seems in order, it seemed the best first post would start with that topic.
Interests
I like a lot of somewhat diverse things. Perhaps a first and continuing love has been reading. I dig a lot of books, though fantasy and sci-fi dominate. By virtue of my Security position, I dig into a log of structured analytics and technical books, but always fall back to reading “lighter” fare as decompression. I like to run and Kung Fu is a second, dominate love followed by or near even with tabletop gaming. That slowed down a bit after managing a gaming company for a dozens years but is making a resurgence.
Security
I find Security, specifically cybersecurity pretty fascinating. In many ways, its very much a close cousin to my other interests, since it leverages plenty of similar skills. It might seem oddball but the same skills that turn someone in to a fantastic investigator or analyst are the same skills avid readers, writers and game creators use.
Synchronicity
Steemit walked into my life at a convention. Namely, a security convention of all places. We were at a roundtable and discussing various elements of Blockchain when Steemit entered the conversation as a cryptocurrency of interest. I found the idea fascinating, not only at a social level but also as a nice pivot on cryptocurrency.
Why am I here
Returning to the main point, I entered the community to share. I’ve tried a variety of blogs, talks and social gatherings but have never found the right vehicle — until now. The Steemit community is unique in that it seems both enlightened and self-interested, two very excellent aspects of a social group.
Thank you!
Thanks for taking your time to read my post. Steemit looks to be unfolding into a progressive and wonderful community. I’m looking forward to being more a part of it.
P.S.
I’m not a big sharer of pictures, especially those of myself. Mainly, since I suffer from MS. I’m saying this last on purpose. Its an influence in my life but one I refuse to allow to dominate my life.
