Hello Steemians! My name is Missy, and I've been on Steemit for about a month. I've really enjoyed getting to know the growing community, and I'm impressed with the quality of content the Steemit community creates daily.
Content creation isn't easy. In fact, it can be quite difficult. It may look like anyone with a webcam can become YouTube famous, but there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes. And, of course, it helps to have talent. So to those of you who are consistently creating quality content, thank you. I would like to join your ranks eventually!
A little about me...
I'm a disabled veteran who connects with the world through gaming, especially Magic: the Gathering. I'm a member of a Magic social commentary themed podcast called Direct Damage West Coast (We're NSFW/not kid-friendly on the cast, but you can find us here http://mtgcast.com/author/direct_damage)
(I'm the chibi Avacyn on the left)
I also crack packs on YouTube (you can find me there as MTGmisfit), but most of my video content has been live streamed. Since joining the podcast last year, I've upgraded my computer system, bought a nice mic, and invested in a couple of webcams that theoretically get the job done. I even have professional lighting, tripods, and a green screen. It's been quite an investment.
I'd hoped to eventually start editing my streams and then move into "real" video production, but the video quality wasn't worth investing that much time and energy...despite the considerable financial input on my part. It was time to poo or get off the pot, as they say.
So, I bought a digital SLR camera yesterday, with all the bells and whistles. I don't have a capture card, so I'll only be using it for edited footage and still shots for now. Assuming I figure out how this thing works! It's a Nikon D3400 and it came with two lenses, which I thought was a pretty good deal for $499 (on sale at Best Buy if you're in the market for one).
I see a lot of great photographs on the feed, and it's awesome that there's so much talent on Steemit. I'd love to connect with other photographers and streamers here, so please say hi in the comments. Upvotes and resteems are very much appreciated, so thanks in advance for helping me grow my network.
(To be quite honest, I'm happy to connect with anyone on here...so let me know if you follow me in the comments and I'll be sure to follow you back)
