Hello, Fellow Steemians!!!
My name is Nina and I'm looking forward to meeting new #Steemians as well as reconnecting with former #Tsuvians.
Please search my posts using the tag #cybermom as I was known as on TSU.
My background is in IT with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science from St. Louis University. My very first job as a computer operator with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department eons ago, when tape drives were being used and paper printout reports were standard reading material. A few months later I was promoted to a programmer/analyst where I was responsible for designing and maintaining the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System. It was a pioneer, state-of-the-art system at the time, one wherein dispatchers used huge monitors split into 4 quadrant screens to dispatch and monitor the whereabouts of all patrol cars in the police department at any given time. Back in those days, programmer/analysts were armed with a pager (this was the pre-cellular phone era) and said to be "on-call" to work out any unexpected software bugs and often handled police cars that were dubbed "stuck in the queue." Fun times, for sure!
From there I moved around the St. Louis area as a Software Consultant at McDonnell Douglas Professional Services (till they were bought out by EDS and I didn't want to travel since I had a little one at home), then held several government consulting jobs and permanent positions as Senior Software Engineering, Software Engineer, Project Leader and other computer-related positions.
I've been involved with Information Technology growth from its dinosaur days when sorted cards were needed to run programs, to Internet web design, survived Y2K, enjoyed to the creation of real-time response online video games, to modern downloadable apps...I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy the ride and look forward to the next chapters!
It's definitely a pleasure to meet everyone here.
Thank you Steemit for designing this amazing platform - chalk another one up for Information Technology!
