Hello,
I'm new to steemit and I'm still trying to understand all of this. The general idea seems to be quite interesting, but I still have to read all the technical details, the whitepaper and all that. Having said that, I do have a question:
- Do posts need to be new content? For example, if I find an interesting article/video, can I create a topic with just a link to it?
I'm used to reddit, where people post links to news or links to videos from other people and all that. Can one do that here, on steemit?
About me
I'm an average person, currently finishing my masters degree. My interests are science (with a preference towards physics), privacy (a bit sad that I "had" to give my phone number and email address to create a free account here) and the open-source movement (linux included here). These topics dont seem to be that big here. Hopefully they'll become more active as time goes by.
About you
Sorry if this comes out wrong but: Is everyone in this community an anti-science idiot? Obviously not everyone is, but the voice given to these people seems to be bigger here than elsewhere.
I was perplexed when I found out that topics such as these got so much upvotes/money. Seriously, almost 20 usd for an anti global-warming topic? I looked at the comments and most of them agree with the idea that global warming is bogus science. I browsed some of those people's blog posts and found out that many are also anti-vaccination. I mean, come on. Is there a way to downvote?
