Just Glad To Be Hear
Greetings to all the steemians out there! I am Kevin. I am pretty excited to be finally post my first blog.
The exciting part is joining a the Steemit community that it is on the forefront of things to come. It's my chance to contribute and be rewarded for my contributions. It's a chance to encourage others along as I gain experience here on Steemit. Best of all it is a chance for a little bit of opportunity for me , my friends, and family if they will take the hint and give steemit a try.
I came across Steemit almost by accident as I was looking for a crypto coin to invest in. I read about Steemit this new social media platform that leveraged the blockchain technology. It took a little bit of wrangling but I finally got around to buying some Steem Power after signing up this month. Whatever hassle I went through to scrap up the coins to invest was surely worth. What was particularly exciting was reading the post by other newbies or minnows. For me buying a little Steem Power is an investment not only financial, but also contributing to the Steemit community.
Getting off the Hamster Wheel
Like many people here I 've been spending so much time on Facebook getting ripped off as I spent my time and energy responding to posts from friends and foes with nothing to show for it except higher blood pressure. In the meantime Facebook is making Billions in revenue using while helping itself to my personal information with no benefit to me, my family or my friends. We on facebook have all been like sheep led to the rewardles slaughter.
I have been spending time on Facebook, at least 2 hours a day everyday, looking for who knows what , for who knows why. I can't explain it except it's a bad habit. Just posting, and responding to the post of others. I say it is time to stop spinning my time generating so much activity for no return. I say it is time for me to get off the
My time is valuable. Facebook obviously does not recognize that my opinions and perspectives matter, as they flood me with advertising without compensating me. My opinions are not valued so I say screw it. Yes my friends and associates give me the thumbs up and positive reactions. I kind of believe that my friends and family are hanging around Facebook out of habit simply because they feel they have no alternative. I think it's just another away to pass the time.

Hey I am getting so carried away with my rebellion against Facebook and why I love being here that I am forgetting to continue my introduction. So now back on point... I am always eager to pick up new technology whenever I can
Side note people... Hey I just put this picture up on Facebook. Then I used the utility here to insert the address. Facebook added some kind of dark curve in the middle of the picture. I advise not to use Facebook's URL for your Steemit pictures. Instead use google pictures. It's just another aggravation from Facebook.
As you can see above below I have a Nest intelligent thermostat just because it learns how to regulate the temperature. Yeah I know its boring but I like the nerdy stuff. This is an old first generation Nest before Google gobbled them up. If you haven't tried it go for it because it certainly will save you money. It did cut my electric bill by 50 %
I am kind of nerdy in that I also have two Google Homes in my house. Who in the hell needs two? I do that's who!!
I am a Marine Biologist by degree, bug I never worked in Marine Biology a day in my life. Looking on the bright side ... if I ever run out of toilet paper that marine biology diploma may come in handy. Let's hope it never comes to that. Anyways... by trade I am an software engineer.
Software can be fun. When I look around me I see everything that we have involves some sort of technology. So you it can be creative . Then on the other hand simply typing would not be my idea of a good party !!
What I would be doing given the choice.
If I anyone were to ask me, years ago, about my ideal job I would have told them that my ideal job would allow me to work from anywhere in the world, having no boss, not set hours. Yep, Yep, Yep ... Narvana! I would get paid for my ideas , which tend to be many. I would get paid for socializing and sharing ideas with people that I care about. My ideal job would allow me to advise my friends and associates, give them my attention, and feedback. Little did I know I was describing blogging on Steemit!
