This is my first post on Steemit! Yeah, love the idea of Steemit, it's brilliant. I've been on almost every social networking platform since Bebo but I ended up deleting my facebook over a year ago after becoming just too too darn irked by the cursed thing. I hate almost everything it stands for.
I've done some blogging and tweeting before, and in some ways I really do miss facebook, with all the friends living in different parts of the world I'm no longer in touch with and that. I've been a bit of a hermit for quite a while now but I'm feeling ready to come out of my cave. The community and creative aspect of Steemit is a big turn on for me, plus the rewards aspect is pretty crazy, still not sure I get it but hey – I know nothing about cryptocurrencies, sure I'll learn round these parts soon enough though.
But forgive me: my name is Alex, a (ig)noble Englishman dwelling in Glasgow, Scotland. At your service. I am an artist of sorts, I write poetry and other things and music too, though that front is rusty as an old nail these days. I intend to use Steemit as a space to plop some creative work onto the Internet, something I've been awful at ever doing, as well as to blog about various cultural things I be interested in. Sometimes writing, sometimes maybe I'll even do a video or sumfin. I'll try and make you laugh, I'll probably offend you... because people just fucking love getting offended, don't they? But you know, I'm actually really nice and I'll always respect your opinion and be reasonable so better just get over it.
Looking forward to getting more involved in the community and getting mega informed and inspired by all you radical people. Say hi, follow me, show me your most boring thing.
Get weird or get out!
Oh and for anyone who doesn't know, in Glasgow, steaming means drunk, really drunk, absolutely hammered. "Ahm pure steamin'!" is a phrase one cannot spend an evening in the city without hearing. It's almost the city's motto, and I foresee Steemit becoming wildly populated with Glaswegians in the near future for this reason alone.
