Hello everyone!!
I am very pleased to be able to share with you this first post.
Judging by the name , you probably know what it's all about.
In view of everything that happens in our fast-paced world, health is an issue that often becomes a priority in the background, and not precisely because of its optimal state. Conversely:
Often we are too busy with work and making money, to worry about physical "minor ailments" (whether caused by "small accidents" or emotional states, such as stress) that will surely be taken away "by resting a little bit"…
Well, in 34 years of career as a physiotherapist, I have seen as "minor pains" that are not taken care of in time, can trigger in extremely serious, and even fatal problems.
This is a rather serious situation. So I decided to contribute a little to the world, creating awareness; "OUR BODY IS OUR TEMPLE, AND WE HAVE TO CARE AS IT."
WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?
If we look for this in google, we will find things like the following:
"A curative method of some physical diseases and injuries that is based on the application of natural or artificial physical agents such as light, heat, cold, physical exercise, luminous radiation, X-rays, etc."
And that definition, is not far from reality!...However, it is not enough.
Physical therapy is an integral medical profession, that means: It does not seek to solve physical problems simply by applying the methods mentioned above.
Many ailments are given by emotional (or psychic) factors, and not necessarily by accidents, or merely physical injuries.
It is very important to pay attention to our emotional states, at the time of the illness, to be able to identify the situation that causes it, and to work based on it.
The treatments are very wide and vary a lot, according to the nature of the problem.
For example, I have cared for patients who have suffered automobile accidents, and have come desperate (frightened) to my appointment, saying that their primary care doctor has prescribed an urgent spinal operation (without even doing rehabilitation first). Once the therapy is started and finished, THE PATIENT DOES NOT NEED OPERATION, AND HAS A 100% IMPROVEMENT.
In the same way, I have treated patients equally desperate, because they have undergone surgery "extremely" necessary, according to the doctor (without having suffered any accident), without positive results, because after the surgery the disease was not eliminated, but the opposite ... GOT WORSE.
WHAT I WANT TO SAY WITH THIS IS THAT SURGICAL INTERVENTIONS ARE NOT NECESSARY AT FIRST INSTANCE (unless life depends on it, of course)
THE FIRST THAT WE MUST DO IS IDENTIFY WHAT IS REALLY THE PROBLEM.
"A healthy mind, it is a healthy body"
