Hi Steemit!
I am very excited to start my journey here! And as what everybody else is doing, before you can become a full-fledged Steemian, you need to introduce yourself. So here it goes!
My name is Loise, female, 20 years old, living in the beautiful island of the Philippines, Davao City. While most of my peers will be graduating this April, I am still at my second year in college while working as a content writer.
My life as I know it
I live quite a difficult life. My father died three years ago due to cardiac arrest, leaving my mom who is a plain housewife with three children, I being the eldest. Because of his sudden death, we struggled more economically.
My mother had been a housewife all her life, and she had passed the age of employment. But I'm still very proud of my mother for being the mother that she is. Because of our hardships, I had no choice but to step up and take on the responsibility of being the bread winner of my family. I was forced to stop schooling for a year and became a househelper at my aunt's residence.
My aunt was nice. She was a web developer for an American company and she knows a lot about digital marketing. So she helped me find a job online so I could support my schooling and my family as well. She gave me her old laptop, and that's how I was introduced to the world of website content writing.
After a year of break from school, I am back, this time as a working student. During daytime, I study as a Bachelor of Science in Social Works major. And at night time, I work as a content writer for an Australian client under Upwork.
It's really difficult juggling work and school especially when it comes to beating deadlines. As a student, I need to finish a lot of things: homework, projects, etc. It is also very hard to study since my extra time is already dedicated for work.
I love working for my client. She is also very nice, organized, and easy to deal with. She gives instructions very well, so I'm not having a hard time doing the tasks she asks me to do. Although my main job is content writer, I also do Search Engine Optimization, and a little bit of web development. But as the demands at school increase and become more difficult, my work performance also decrease in quality.
Having said, I asked my client if I could reduce my work time from 8 hours to only 4 hours everyday and she was cool about it. But of course, my salary was also cut in half. But it's fine since I also really want to give more time for my studies. And when you really want something, you're willing to compromise.
But fate has been really good to me. When I was doing my research for the article I was writing about, I came across Steemit. I read about it and got really interested, so I dug in deeper. I was very impressed with what the platform can offer! So without hesitations, I signed up, and after a week, my account was approved!
The reason I joined this platform is mainly because of the promising monetary rewards I could get upon making quality contents. And since I am already doing content writing, I am very excited to share my craft in this amazing platform. The only difference is, I could write anytime I want, at my own pace, and with the topics I'm most comfortable at.
I know there is so much work to do in order to build my name and reputation in this platform, but I am up for the challenge. I am very determined to succeed, so I can help my family better. And with this, I am hoping for everyone's support.
What can you expect from me?
I am a writer. I write poems. I write fiction stories, and sometimes non-fiction. I write stuff about digital marketing, and blogging. And I write anything that brings inspiration, motivation, and good vibes to everyone.
I am also commited to engage in this community, so I hope I can find a home and a family in this platform. I believe that a sense of belongingness is an essential key in order to succeed in a community-based digital platform.
That would be all for my introduction. Thank you so much for reading.
Xoxo,
Loise
