Greetings to every Steemians ! Hope to be able to get along with everyone here after this short introduction of me to the Steem World .
Hello ! My name is Cheryl Chang. Surname is Chang, yes. As you can see, I have a Chinese name but I am not wholly a Chinese haha. (I'll explain later.)
This is a picture of me !
I'm from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. People around the globe usually call it "North Borneo" as it's located on the northern portion of Borneo Island.
Sabah (North Borneo) is popular for its breathtaking sceneries especially when it comes to the views from the top of the Mount Kinabalu

Mount Kinabalu is only one of the top attractions. Some other attractions include the stunning sunset views, the favourite activity of every tourists which is islands hopping from Kota Kinabalu, the astonishing culture of Sabah from all kind of races.
This is me while hanging out in one of the most popular resort in town, Sutera Harbour .
Some of you might have known that the top three biggest race in Malaysia are Chinese, Malays and Indians. But for Sabah things are different, Sabah has all kind of races but the majorities are Chinese, Malays and Kadazans. Yes, Kadazans instead of Indians. The Kadazans are an ethnic group indigenous to the state of Sabah in Malaysia and they have their very unique own of culture.
The amount of Indians in Sabah is so little that I only have 1 pure blood Indian friend in my whole life until now. There was one time I went to West Malaysia to attend to my mother's graduation ceremony and it was really an open eye for me because of the amount of Indians in West Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur to be precise. Malaysia was broken down to West Malaysia and East Malaysia for your information in case you guys get confused.
West Malaysia has 11 states in it meanwhile East Malaysia only have 2 states.
As I mentioned earlier, I am not a pure blood Chinese because my mother, a Kadazan married to my father, a Chinese. To put it simply I am a mixed blood of Chinese and Kadazan. Usually the people here call us the Sino-Kadazan. Some of us might look more like Chinese but some of us are the opposite. For me, I look more like a Chinese.
Introducing myself is like introducing the originality of Sabah because it's so complicated hahahha!
I am personally more into the Chinese side because I was educated in a Chinese school and also my Grandmother took care of me most of the time which made me to have a Chinese background more than a Kadazan background. The influence of Chinese culture has more impact in my life so I only follow Chinese traditions most of the time.
I know a lot of languages because of the background of where I live. We tend to learn a lot of languages just to communicate with each other in the multiracial society. The languages I've learnt are Mandarin, Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien, Malay and lastly, English. Does Kadazan has its own language ? Yes, they do ! The Kadazans have a few dialects for example Rungus. I could not name all of the dialects because I am not so familiar with it. But for Rungus, it's the language which my mother speaks all the time with her relatives. Unfortunately, I do not know how to speak Rungus because it was really hard for me to pick up and I wasn't educated with it since I was a kid. It's a really special language to be honest.
Lastly I want to say that my interests are all anime, drawing some simple artworks and playing some simple online games, eg. MapleStory etc.
These are the pictures when I volunteered to work for an anime exhibition at here because I want to put my love for anime into a good use for the community !
And here are some of the drawings I've done. (Simple drawing of my high school classmates and characters)
Here are some of the screenshots in game with my friends (MapleStory)
A selfie of mine haha !
Thank you for reading my introduction post and please forgive me if there are any grammar problems as I said English isn't my primary language haha. Hope to be able to continue my journey in Steemit with every of the Steemians here ! I will post more about the amazingness and specialty of my culture here in Sabah so you guys could visit here some times woohoo! Good things must be shared together haha !
Please do comment below so I will know what do you think of me and how can I improve myself more !
