As I prepare to debut my first contest as a curator for TourPremierArt, with this first contest using writing prompts I want to inspire artist on the Steemit platform to keep doing your art and see the experiences in your life as a backdrop or a foundation where you draw energy and ideas and information from to master your artist skills.

SHARING MORE ABOUT ME
My journey of writing began by reading novels. As I immersed myself in other worlds and characters, my vocabulary expanded, the way I expressed myself expanded. This is when I began to find my voice.
After my second child I went back to college and studied. English /Literature, which became my minor and my life as a Poet and Storyteller began.
My academic major was in World Religious Studies and the foreign languages that accompanied these religions. I did not just want to read about religion but to experience it so I became a missionary and traveled to Central America Belize and lived amongst the Mayan Indians as a part of a medical mission supplying medicine and teaching them bible verses.
My time in Belize was indeed a life changing experiences, especially the weather which was 123 degrees in the shade. I experienced monsoon season for the first time. For two months it rained every evening and into the night. Belize also had insects that we don’t have in America, which could eat through toothpaste tubes, we had to keep our toothpaste in metal containers.
But the Mayan children who spoke a broken English was worth the journey. They lived in grass huts but they were full of life and energy. When I first saw them, the first thing the Senior missionary said to me was, “Wait until you hear them sing.” It was wonderful to behold. They sang with all their might with full expression of stumping feet and arms swinging.
I went on to study. Christianity, Hebraic, and Islaamic traditions. I learned to read earlier text of the bible and the Koran before their translations into English. I fell in love with language and tongues, which changed my energy vibrations and put me in deeper touch with myself and how rhythms and tones flowed through me. Then when I wrote it became a higher level of expression which led me to know how and when to tap into certain aspects of life, take a mental snapshot and tell a story about that.
I am sharing all of this to give you a deeper look at one aspect of my life. I want you to see when and how I truly came to love life, people and my passion for the art that flows through me.
It was through my college studies and my missionary work that I birthed a passion to give, teach and help others.
Now at 50- something, I have recreated myself. I work most as an artist, storyteller and poet. By way of this life work I want to inspire all that connect to my journey and be inspired at the same time.
I was introduced to Steemit by my very good friend . I love the people here which are giving, expressive, carefree, honest and sometimes funny. I also love that on Steemit I am a part of a worldwide community that bring value to the Steemit platform by bringing to the table their gifts through the lenses of life as they see it from their part of the world.
I wish for all of us the success we desire as we move forward in this new cryptocurrency world on the blockchain.
