I'm really excited about steem and it's potential to break the facebook social media monopoly. I've been following bitcoin since 2009 when I mined 3.2BTC in a couple of weeks with my PC ... I lost those when a hard drive died. :(
Me with a baby camel. (they make the coolest noises)
I'm a New Zealander working for an australian aboriginal media organisation in some of the the remotest aboriginal communities - making sure the community wifi is up, fixing computers and keeping our radio station on-air.
Some cool facts about the Ngaanyatjarra Lands:
- The Ngaanyatjarra Lands is larger than Germany (also larger than New Zealand), but has a population of only ~2500.
- English is the second or third language for the local people out here.
- In 1984 the Pintupi Nine were the last people to come out of the desert into "civilisation".
- There are 300,000+ Feral Camels in the outback.
- Controlled bush fires can earn you carbon credits!
Right now I'm interested in Crypto-currencies, Permaculture, the Maker Movement, Cinematography, Natural Building and Tiny Houses. Basically I'm into practical, creative things that can make the world a better place.
I love taking photos. These are my favourites from out here.
Me and my dog, Sue, checking out a huge electrical storm passing by.
These are the roads I travel on between communites.
The community swimming pool. Note the little gangsta kid.
We have some great sunsets out here. Also cars don't last long without parts.
My dog again in the local car dump.
Bushfires slowly work their way across the land. This is traditional practice when there are fires they don't get too big and hot.
The missionaries got here first and little churches are in every community.
When a rain shower passes in the hot season kids run out to play.
With very little light pollution the stars are amazing at night. Old wrecks litter the roads.
I really love my dog. This girl did too :)
Verification + new friend.
