Hi Steemit!
My name is Russell and I am currently based in San Francisco. I am a self-taught creative who does UI/UX work part-time and does photography on the side. I am excited to share my passion in photography and travel and hope that it inspires you!
Here is me hiding behind the shadows at the De Young Museum in SF.
I am a self-taught creative
Even though, I got my Bachelors in Studio Art, I was always self-taught and I've dabbled in between traditional and digital mediums. I never had a proper mentor, but found YouTube, online education (MOOCs), books and even social media to get me started or inspire me. But really, you just have to do it and keep on experimenting and practicing. Mainly, I do photography, video and graphic design (mainly UI/UX design and still new at it too).
Here are my travel photos
I was fortunate to travel at least twice or three times a year. I’m not like most travel influencers or digital nomads who have been to more 20+ countries in one year, but I’m so happy that I got travel for the last 4.5 years (basically the last years of my 20s). And without travel, it would not have created my passion for photography.
Have you been to any of these places? Leave a comment below and guess where. 😄
Oh yeah, I started doing portraits too.
From online to offline, I've met some of the most talented individuals who I also consider friends.
Why Steemit?
I was actually surfing through blog posts about 20 somethings sharing about their life changes, career changes and many others who are exploring their true potential and purpose in life. I did stumbled into a blog on Steemit and before closing it, I wanted to know what Steemit was. I did my quick research and I could see that I could potentially fit in with the community on here. And this is a good opportunity for me to share a backlog of travel blogs that I've always wanted to write about. Besides my love for photography, film and design, I'd like to include writing.
What I'll be sharing
For now, I’d like to keep my posts mainly about travel and photography and I look forward to sharing it with this wonderful community. I hope my future posts, will inspire you to pick up a camera (your phone counts too!) and take awesome photos. On top of that, I hope I inspire you to travel somewhere across the globe, if not, somewhere in your home country/city. I hope it also pushes you to meet people, learn new cultures and see new places. Lastly, I want to let you guys know, that it's never too late to pursue your passion or dreams.
A couple days ago. I was in Pompeii, Italy.
