Hello Steemit community!
My name is Doug and my focus within the community will primarily be sharing adventures both soft and on the rather extreme side. Throughout my life I have been pretty avidly pursuing a life outside. Along the way I, like most folks got a job, had a family. Luckily my beautiful wife understands my restless spirit and has been very supportive through the years and my boys have both developed a love for the outdoors and adventure.
I just turned 60 and have found that if my motivation in certain areas has perhaps declined, it has increased in other pursuits. In the past I pursued Alpine climbing to the exclusion of nearly all else. In recent years I find myself doing more exploration than climbing though I still do rock and ice climb. Now I find myself with a pack or a bike or a raft (or ideally all three!) in generally remote areas often solo, other times with my wife. I like putting together human powered adventures that traverse remote and astoundingly beautiful country.
I somehow became something of a bicycle nut so there will be some tips on setup(s) that work for me. So there it is. In a nut shell. I hope you find my posts stimulating, inspiring, educational, or at least a little interesting!
