What's up steemit.
I created this account mainly for the purpose of blogging about travel along with my girlfriend, who will also be posting on here. But I wanted to first introduce myself to the steemit community, and explain a little bit about myself and how I ended up here.
me^^
My name is Staff, short for Stafford. My journey into the realm of cryptocurrency began last year in January, 2016. I was watching a movie, specifically I was partaking in a lovely Netflix and chill session. except, all the chilling was done alone in my apartment that I was renting at the time. As I watched I couldn't help but gasp at how the whole movie was basically one big guide to the darkweb. I mean, this movie actually explains in detail how to get bitcoin and become a drug dealer on the darkweb, step-by-step. Now, I have always been intrigued by cryptocurrency and bitcoin ever since its inception, but I like many others just assumed it was solely for the purpose of illicit and criminal activity... so I never thought to actually buy it. That is until I saw the movie dope. I was truly inspired.(no, not to become a drug dealer) but, It got me thinking, "how many drug dealers will see this movie and start using the darkweb? and What is that going to do to the value of bitcoin?" I knew then I had to buy some bitcoin.
I hopped on my pc right away, and after a few google searches I was able to purchase btc. I did it through localbitcoins. I wanted to be as anonymous as possible. Just the idea of buying bitcoin seemed highly illegal at the time. I bought about 5 coins just over 200$ a pop. It felt awesome, I felt like I had escaped the system. Like, I was sticking it to the man. I was instantly addicted to this feeling, and I continued to buy bitcoin thereafter almost daily for the following months. I was hooked, truly, I didn't go for more than an hour without checking the price of bitcoin. I had coin fever. I even began trading it, and other crypto currencies on btc-e. Mainly just buying, because I found out quickly that I was a pretty shitty trader.
Bitcoin didn't make me incredibly rich or wealthy, but it did free me from life's financial burdens. It also gave me the freedom to quit my job and travel the world, and in turn meet the girl of my dreams, who is pictured below. I don't actually believe that the movie dope is the reason bitcoin has climbed up, though It was definitely the spark that got me into crypto. so thanks, asap rocky. Thank you. And thank you steemit, I'm pumped to finally be on here!
