Hive is not all I thought it was. At first glance, I thought the four-letter word H-I-V-E was only used to refer to a swarm of honeybees or even a habitat of bees, but unknown to me, there is more. It is not just about honeybees but also a platform built with a blockchain system and technology filled with different occupants blogging, vlogging about their daily lives, hobbies, interests, political views, financial thoughts, free-flow writing, and many more I am yet to unravel.
You needed to see the overwhelming wave of surprise all over my face as I began to explore more about this platform. I became overly curious about how a platform like this, filled with content and even 5-year-olds, could have been around, and I am only finding out recently. Honestly, a part of me felt down or something more like being late to the party when all the good stuff had happened already. Well, I guess it is never too late to try and see for oneself.
What's New about Me
I have always adored the idea of growing individually and letting my work or content speak for itself, and in this case, mine happens to be games. I have a good passion for playing video games or even games in general, be it Scrabble, word puzzles, monopoly, chess, or controller games right from childhood. I think it has much to do with the fact that I didn't dwell in a particular place or neighborhood for long, which made it hard for me to make new friends or even keep up with the old ones.
So my mother devised a means to help me cope with such a challenge by getting my first Game Boy. Strangely, I still remember what it looked like, the sounds it made, and how I would blow air into the cartridge when I had difficulties with it playing. Gradually, the love for games grew into a bond that can never be broken even into adulthood. From the very moment I used my 3 months' salary to buy a PS5 and a new controller, I knew my love for gaming was sealed in the heavenly books.
Lately, I spend my weekends playing Mortal Kombat, NBA2K, Marvel Rivals, and sometimes The Ghost of Tsushima, which I recently completed. Currently, I have gotten myself hooked on the mobile version game of Monopoly called Rento, as it gives me that nostalgic feeling of when I would play it in my dorm room with friends during my university days. But moving forward, I'm going to check out new games I could try out through Hive while I save up to get more games on my list. Black Myth Wukong, I will be coming for you soon.
How I came across HIVE
It all started when I came across a tweet from informing web3 gamers about The Final Gold Foil Heloise on X back in February.
🔥 WEB3 GAMERS, ARE YOU READY? 🔥
The FINAL Gold Foil Heloise The Hollow (Mint 5/5) is up for auction in @Splinterlands, and this is your chance to own a legendary piece of blockchain gaming history! 🏆

Trust me, being a game fanatic like myself, you had to be hooked on such a post. I had more than a dozen questions about what Splinterlands was about and how one could get started. I do not know about you, but the more I kept on going through the Splinterland page on X, the more I knew I had to check this game out because of the Pokémon vibe it was giving at the time.
From checking out the game to bumping into Hive. Where I quickly discovered that there is a gaming community filled with game fanatics like myself, dishing out content about their gaming journey and experience. I even came across a community for my first most loved board game, chess. And that is not all, there is a weekly tournament for chess fans organized by the moderator, , who later turned into my helpful guide in getting started.
When I said I became curious about Hive, I failed to mention that my curiosity came with loads of questions about what this is, what that is, and how to get started. At some point, I had to apologize to because I felt the questions were probably becoming uncomfortable for someone you just started chatting with. Surprisingly, he was not, instead, he kept replying to my questions with detailed answers, and not only that, he shared with me helpful articles answering my questions and even how to write a good post and grow on Hive. Honestly, if I can accomplish half of what he has done on the blockchain, I will consider myself lucky. On this note, I would like to say a big thank you and another thank you in advance because I know I will still have more questions to ask.
My Goal with Hive
My goal with Hive is simple: consistently remaining active on the platform, through engagements, posts, and activities, especially in the gaming community, and like my newfound Hive mentor shared with me in his article, there will be a drought season, but have something you will be known for or consistent with. Honestly, I am going to work towards consistent growth and soon quit my 9-5 job to become a full-time gaming blogger on Hive. Big dreams and plans.
Thank you for reading, and I will always remain on this journey of exploring Hive.
