So, what am I doing on Steemit? Let me think … Oh wait, being able to blog and broadcast on a decentralised, democratic, blockchain based platform? Count me in!
Here's My First DTube Video: On why I'm loving Steemit and Dtube.
Don’t get me wrong, the current social media models certainly have their place.
Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and Snapchat etc, all have their purpose, function, markets etc …
But they are also completely at the mercy of their masters, and no, that does not mean their users.
I love YouTube, I really do. It has for years been the source of ENDLESS entertainment, education and news. It is an invaluable resource that has enhanced my life enormously.
What do I despise about YouTube? I despise the fact that algorithms can be tweaked at the behest of the company the boost or diminish content. It’s neither truly democratised nor in any way transparent. People who had found enormous success on youtube through hard work and talent, are now in positions where that livelihood is threatened because they’re not family friendly or are discussing subjects that YouTube determines is not worth monetising.
I’m sorry, that doesn't fly with me. Ideas no matter how dangerous, if thought through and subject to scrutiny are INVALUABLE, and THIS is why the steemit and DTube community will be a new home for me. And I can’t wait to be part of what promises to be a flourishing platform.
What will I be blogging about? I’ll be both blogging and vlogging. And Im interested in this almost being a chain of thought space. There will be days where family will be the front of my mind, and other days it’ll be tech, news, music or that awesome thing that personal totally did with play-doh that was awesome.
We’re all here for the same reason. I want you to come along for the ride. I can’t wait to meet you all.
