Hello steemians!
I've been meaning to post my "introduction" post [ or just post anything, really ] for a while but, as always seems to be the case, life has been keeping me busy.
So, I guess a good intro for who I am would be:
- I make weird games
- I like to draw comics
- I dabble in semi-useful internet apps
- I make assets for other developers to use
- I really like pretending I know about blockchains, neural networks, and crypto-everything
As I said, I've been meaning to post on here for a super long time.
I think I discovered Steemit about, a year ago? It really interested me as a platform.
Like, yes, obviously the money aspect is all fine and well. But specifically, I'm really into the community that has popped up around it and would really like to get more involved with / in it.
I also am super interested in the technology behind it. I'm sure that, before 2018 has passed, I'll end up at least attempting to make something on the steem blockchain. Either that, or use Lisk. Y'all like Lisk?
I'm just itching to get more into blockchain stuff, to be honest...
One thing that I've been doing recently is an experimental little thing called: "One Year Egg".
2 years ago, for 2016, I ran a world-wide, collaborative, twitter-based, choose-your-own-adventure type DnD / RPG game called "One Year RPG". Players would go on twitter everyday and vote for what action the character should take. The votes were tallied, and after 24 hours a new part of the story was posted, reflecting the winning choice.
This year, I decided to do something similar.
However, instead of an RPG game, I wanted to add pictures into the mix. After a bit of thinking, and creative-doodling, I came up with a simple twitter-tamagotchi type game. It follows the same premise.
In One Year Egg, anyone can play along & take care a virtual pet. Each day, a new picture of the creature is posted to twitter, and players vote on what stat / action the creature should spend the day doing. After ~24 hours, the results take effect, and the cycle repeats!
Now is a good time to talk about this considering that, after just 16 days, players have officially unlocked a new transformation to the creature!
Transformations are actually less confusing then they sound. Basically, whenever one of the creatures 4 stats [* food, strength, play, intelligence ] gets filled to the end [ seven straight days of partaking in that skill *], the creature will end up transforming into a new form related to the maxed-out skill.
These forms have various effects on the creature. I'm trying my best not to spoil literally anything about this game as I really want all discoveries to be made by the players. So, all I'll say is: go play with the creature, and experiment a bit. Don't forget to have fun! :)
Also, in 2018, I'm trying my best to fulfill my idea of running my own little space called Mystery Attic.
Basically, I see Mystery Attic as a place to experiment, make strange and fun things, and put out as much creative content as I can possibly manage.
I see so many resources wasted / not be used to their potential [ me included ]. Giant networks not putting out interesting content, creators staying in the same echo-chamber of their past success, media getting complacent. I hope that I'll be able to craft out a small corner of the internet for unique and neat things.
So, yeah! That's about it!
Like I said, I'm really excited to get to know more of you, and be more active here.
Most likely I'll be making posts about new things I'm working on, tutorials I made, free stuff I'm releasing, and maybe the occasional rabble about some new tech that gets me hot-and-bothered.
Thanks for reading, I'll see you soon! Take care :)
