Introducing Myself – A Smorgasbord

Hi Folks,

I’m Hive account@thekid. Thanks for welcoming me into your community! I’m pretty excited to be here. So you can get to know me a little better, here’s a grab-bag of tidbits re: my life.

I’m from the greater Philadelphia area and have been here pretty much my whole life (excluding a three-year field trip outside New York City).

My wife and I met when we were 15 and haven't been able to shake each other since!

I like drinking Guinness; I don’t like paying six dollars a beer. It’s funny how well this sums me up.

I was on Team Wire in the beginning. Then, I jumped to Team Mad Men. Then Team Breaking Bad. These days, I’m just Team Good TV. Or Team Whatever My Wife Wants to Watch.

Thanks to my fair Irish skin, I have a somewhat contentious relationship with the sun. That’s me up there. I’m the guy wearing the hat.

…so, yeah…I’m pretty cool.

I work in Finance for a Fortune 500 healthcare company. I like it, but it’s very left-brained. I joined Steemit to exercise my right-brain a bit. You know, get him off the couch and out doing something. I’d sign him up for intramurals, but I’m not very good at sports. Plus, he doesn’t have legs. Or arms.

I wish Arch had taken the shot, but will buy Kris Jenkins drinks for the rest of my life.

I believe in simple pleasures – I even maintain a Top 5 list. They change from time to time, but on my list today (in no particular order):

A full tank of gas
A freshly mowed lawn
A hot cup of joe
A haircut, done tight
A walk with my wife

Boat shoes hurt my feet.

My New Year’s Resolution was to spend more time practicing the piano. My sister is teaching me how to play on Wednesday nights. She is very talented. She is also very annoyed when I don't practice. Mid-Year Report Card: My sister is annoyed a lot.

My wife and I self-published a children’s book on Amazon this year. It’s called Aboard a Paper Plane. We had a lot of fun writing it together!

I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to write here, but I have a few ideas. I’m a bit of a personal finance wonk, so I’d love to contribute to that portion of the community. But I also enjoy story-telling, writing poems, traveling, cryptocurrencies, efficient living, and history – just to name a few. More so than anything, I’m just here to kick around ideas, get some feedback, and have fun.

I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the community!
