Hello Steemians,
I am a fiction writer and poet, I occasionally write a non-fiction or opinion piece when I feel especially passionate. I joined Steemit after my friend had mentioned it to me while discussing blockchain and cryptocurrency... Which arose from myself expressing all of the frustration I was (and still am partly) experiencing blogging and using various social media websites for my writing. Instagram, Twitter and Medium are all very hard platforms for poetry; The written word can't be appreciated in all of the same ways it used to... It's become a bit harder to gain attention without being cliche or having to aggressively market and buy into the advertising services these networks provide or rather want you to buy into. It also makes it excrutiatingly difficult to attain REAL publishing when you're pegged as an, "InstaPoet".
After he described how Steemit worked to me, I decided to give it a shot. Steemit looks like an honest social network as well a whole new frontier for me... I've always been so reluctant to embrace technology yet after browsing through the website, I am driven and willing to give it my full and honest effort.
So here's a little bit about myself:
I am 21 and have an awesome cat named Jack, he is very sweet as well as demanding when it comes to receiving attention.
I own 2 typewriters currently, I prefer using my Smith-Corona Karmann Ghia Super-G (Designed by the same man who made the Volkswagen car). The feel and sound of using a typewriter is so fulfilling and soothes my ADHD ridden mind.
On ocassion I paint, I'm primarily influenced in that field by Brion Gysin.
Earlier in the year I made an album with the help of my friends. It's a spoken word type of deal, I wrote the story, recorded the vocals and created the artwork. I sent it over to one of my friends who created some spooky sounding guitar-amp feedback noises for it. We combined those and sent it over to my other buddy who's a producer and he put some analog and acoustic drums over it, as well as vocal effects like glitching. I'm quite proud of it, it was featured by a local arthouse in my hometown for a short bit.
Anyways, I'll be posting poetry on here more than I will be posting short stories. I hope you guys enjoy them and look forward to supporting everyone with their endeavours!
Here is my bandcamp (the album is called, "TiTLE_II: 'I'm Named After Two Saints, So Thought To Myself, "Why The Hell Not Act Like One?'"):
