Let me first of all congratulate myself on getting approval for my account and a bigger congratulations to those of you that have been blogging and earning for a while on here, especially those in developing countries where a dollar makes a huge difference and earning it in the centralized world is a herculean task. Yes, I can say that the centralized real world in the developing country is shit because I am blogging from one.
The virtual and decentralized world has done much more for humanity within the short period of invention in such a way that it made me start questioning the on-going debate among the Muslim scholars on the permissibility or impermissibility of cryptocurrency in the Islamic religion.
By the way, My name is Umm Ummar and I am a Muslim. I got to know about cryptocurrency some years ago and about this platform in 2016. I could have been among the first few to have registered on this platform but held back by the debate on the permissibility of cryptocurrencies in my religion. Need I say I am almost as dedicated as a Muslim can be? I am always conscious of the moral and religious acceptability of my earnings.
However, after a thorough analysis and personal investigation, I finally decided to sign up on this platform knowing fully well it was established based on a cryptocurrency called steem. While the debate on permissibility or impermissibility for a Muslim to invest in cryptocurrency is going on, a lot of lives have been positively transformed through the earnings on steemit. I could not just shut my eyes off to it.
The reason for the debate hinges on the speculatory pattern upon which the prices of cryptocurrencies fluctuate. We Muslims believe that money should appreciate based on value provisions and not just speculations. Ipso facto, a lot of projects are coming up that would be game changers for Muslims in the crypto business. If indeed the cryptocurrency value fluctuates based on speculation, imagine what will happen when there is a unanimous pronouncement that cryptocurrency is halal is made. Need I say the population of extremely rich Muslims in the world? I simply cannot wait.
So why did I sign up?
I am going to be working hard to produce good and original contents. Hence, a lot of efforts and resources would go into producing articles and it is only normal to earn when you work, right? Therefore, I simply believe that blogging and earning on steemit is a work on its own and the permissibility or impermissibility debate is not applicable. I will be creating values for my earnings even though I will be getting paid in cryptocurrencies.
Final thoughts
While I totally respect the knowledgeable Islamic scholars, I personally believe the decentralized system offers much more for humanity than the centralized economic system. The testimonies are overwhelming. For a religion that supports wealth redistribution through zakat and sadaqa, the blockchain is worthy of being looked into.
And yes, I won't be showing my face because my religion does not permit it.
I hope to have some beautiful and life-changing experiences on here.
