Most README documents for development projects are written in it because it is easy to it read both formatted and in plain text. WYSIWYG means What You See Is What You Get. Typically, the content editor in Wordpress is WYSIWYG. The problem with WYSIWYG editors is that they don't always behave as you would expect.
