Wassup Steemians! I'm back with my impressions on how my account is going before and after my first post. This one is the second.
My First Week
After I created my account I was only trying to understand the Steem ecosystem. I started to read here and there, and out of all this overwhelming information, this is what I came up with as a set of basic things that have to be done in the early stages of your account (I won't dive into details because I don't know all of them yet either, I'll just stick to the very basic things for now):
You need to be active, follow other people, read other people's posts and make relevant comments. The result is that you get rewarded when your comments get upvoted by steemians with some voting power. This will give you some coins in your wallet.
You need to create your own posts, which will be upvoted and commented. This will also give you some coins in your wallet.
You need to upvote posts and comments made by others, which will also get you some coins in your wallet.
You also can upvote your own posts, which will give you both the curator AND the author rewards. This is considered non-ethical by some of the steemians, but in my opinion, it's not. If the Steem algorithm allows it, it's by design, so why feel bad about using it? Of course this could change in the future, but for the time being...
All these activities will also make your reputation grow (the number in parentheses beside the username), which will also make your voting value bigger. In fact, the voting value is determined by a mathematical formula that includes a few elements.
Believe me, in the early stages, growing you Steem Power is one of the 2 goals that you need to follow. The other one is growing your followers, your community, but the latter will come almost automatically.
So, during my first week as a Steemian, my reputation number has increased from 25 to 29, only by voting and commenting.
Getting Some Voting Value
But how to get voting value in the first place if my Steem Power is still ZERO? Here are a few ways:
Buy Steem Power - pretty streight forward;
If you have Steem just use the "power up" option to transfer some of your Steem to your Steem Power section of your wallet.
Lease Steem Power.
I've chosen #3 because I think it gives you the biggest impact for the smallest effort, for a limited time of course. So, before even creating my first post, I leased 700 Steem Power for 4 weeks and I paid the equivalent of 10 US Dollars for them. Its 700 Steem Power folks, which at the time of writing it was worth about 600 US Dollars! Cool!
Here's an excellent guide on how to lease Steem Power from MinnowBooster.net.
After doing this I noticed that my voting value changed from 0 to 0.03$, which is not too much, but it will help, that's for sure.
About My Followers.
As I mentioned before, during my first week I only commented and upvoted, even if my upvotes were worthless. During a week I only did this, and I managed to grow a following of only 9 people.
After posting my introductory post, the number of followers grew from 9 to over 90 in just 2 hours! This is just crazy!
Obviously, I thank you for following me, it's just that, I'm pretty amazed at how fast my community is started to grow. And I'm really curious to see what reaction this post will generate.
PS: So, dear Minnows Steemians, keep posting quality content and relevant comments! Let's help make Steemit world a better world.
