Magandang araw everyjuan!
Hi! Hello! Hola!
I’m a newbie here and this will be my very first post. For the sake of brevity, this intro is to answer the following questions- SINO ako? At BAKIT ako nandito?
SINO AKO
You may call me abnkkbsnplako. And I am a proud rice farmer. Isa po akong magsasaka, ang tatay ko po ay magsasaka, tatay din po nya, at ang tatay ng tatay nya ay magsasaka rin. Meaning, we are farmers to the Nth generation.
Please pardon me for choosing to remain private and anon. This is intentional and by design. The Internet is a beautiful, awesome and the most life changing invention in modern history. But it is a nasty place as well (you know, doxxing and other things).
BAKIT AKO NANDITO
The SINO AKO part is inconsequential. What’s of great value is the BAKIT AKO NANDITO part.
Preach, here we go.
I want to give voice to the plight of the modern Filipino farmers today. I want to be that voice, no matter how little that is.
I wore many hats before and I continue to do some of it- teacher, customer service representative, ops manager, freelancer, virtual currency trader, and independent contractor. It took me 3 decades to return to where I should be, to what I love doing. And that is growing my own food.
Ang lolo ko ay matanda na at kahit na anong pilit nya na magtrabaho pa sa bukid, ay di na talaga kaya ng kanyang katawang lupa. Out of his many grandchildren, one chose to follow his footsteps. Only one. To a farmer, this situation is not just sad but dire as well.
Sa buhay natin, tuwing kailan mo kailangan ng doctor, bank manager, engineer, at ng iba pang mga professional? Once a year, twice a month, weekly, quarterly?
Tuwing kelan kailangan mo ang magsasaka? Bigyan kita ng clue- ilang beses ka ba kumakain sa isang araw?
(Image: Hindi po yan targeted ad banner, papansin lang. No I am not selling rice, YET 😜)
As a rice farmer, I hope to share the first hand experience of being the grower of food that everyone needs in this Godforsaken country! Grabe nagalit 🤣.
Seriously, I believe that farmers are the backbone of our country. They endure all kinds of hardships and pain, yet continue to toil the land without fail, SILENTLY.
I want us to be silent no more.
XOXO,
