Hello Steem Community... I am the Naughtinarian aka the Wild n Wooly Wordsmith.
. though I have made a few posts... I realized I hadn’t introduced myself, even a little bit.
I am an author, poet, sculptor, singer, actor and painter.
I am a father, and currently a stay at home dad to 3 kids under 8. I also just turned 51.... so, I started a little late on the whole family tip.
I am a West Coaster, and an Upper Left Edger... I am somewhat of a Socialist, and a recovering Anarchist. I am multiethnic, pay homage(i.e. celebrate holidays of) multiple religions, and consider myself a gnostic deist.
I spent 20 odd years cracking skulls and cleaning puke out of urinals in some of the nastiest, And a number of the rowdiest Clubs and music venues in Oregon and Nevada. From bouncer to the boss... but a boss who was still big on the ‘laying on of hands’... for a decade of that, I was a strip club dj.
I spent a decade running mills in the wood products and construction industries.
I did collections and executive security on the side for a number of years. Fun fact, loan sharking is legal in Nevada. Some of the collection methods however.. not so much.
I promoted bands and booked shows in clubs. i even sang in a metal band.
So 50+ years of West Coast Black Sheep life. A life lived by a man that has known since early childhood that he was going to be an author, that writing was his talent, his passion.
50 years gathering material. 50 odd years, of failing, flailing, flying, flopping and fucking it all up.
50 years of long shots that paid, and easy layups that clanged off the rim.
50 years of character studies, heartaches, triumphs and tragadies.
In other words... 50 years of research. Time to start writing....
My blog, at wildnwoollywordsmith.com, is kind of an online attempt to publicly workout, some ideas i am working on, 4 or 5 seperate writing projects that I am simply gathering, or regurgitating, material for. The plan, is to go back after so many months, and curate them into their own project categories. Then see which are ready to curate into a books, and which need more work.
The works will seem scattershot, I am sure. My interests are many, and widely varied.
I have a project dealing with the idiocracyand brilliance that is raising small children after 40... perhaps a book for parents like me, who started late, or for those grandparents my age, finding themselves raising their grandchildren.
I have a project dealing with a 75 year old genealogy mystery I solved , after 40 years of my own work on it. There is also a book, maybe two, dealing eith some of my more nefarious or ridiculous ancestors.
Others will obviously deal with political and social scence/justice topics.
Another project is mostly poetry and art.
There are even 3 very different screenplays I am working on....
So this, perhaps, will suffice as an introduction, and at least a statement of my intent here. It is my hope that the steem community, the steem future, enjoys my contributions here.... I hope, I will engender your support, that my voice, will find a foothold, and grow.
