Hello Steemians, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nathan, I’m a nearly 20 year old man who has recently undergone some major life changes. I’m making this post to give y’all a little introduction of myself and well as to talk about how the communities I have in my life have helped serve as my lifeline over the past few months. Rewind back to my life two months ago and you would’ve seen me living with a girl I was going to propose to this November. We had two dogs together, had been living together for the past two and a half years, and I was head over heels in love with her. Things had been a bit rocky for a while but I was dedicated to getting through it, and I thought she was too. Evidently I was wrong. She broke up with me and I was forced to move out of our house and move back in with my mother and siblings, quit my job, leave my dogs behind (for the moment), and reevaluate my entire life. Needless to say I was devastated, my whole life had just been ripped out from under me and turned upside down.
I spent the next month moving boxes out of my ex’s house, sorting out a temporary living situation for my dog Bucky, and just trying to hold myself together long enough to go through the motions of losing the person you thought you would spend forever with. This is where community comes into play, on my own I don’t know if I would’ve had the strength to pull through everything, to overcome the most awful heartbreaking thing I’ve experienced up to this point in my life. Thankfully I was not on my own, I had two amazing communities that I was already a part of that helped give me the strength and support I needed to pull through. The first of these communities was a transgender support group that I have been attending since I turned 18 almost two years ago. The second was the poetry/open mic community where I live who allowed to pour my heart out on the paper for them and give back love and positive thoughts in return. I’m hoping that Steem can become a third community for me. In the future I plan on making post on poetry, art, nature, day to day life, my queerness, and so much more. Here’s a cheers to community and what hopefully is great begining to an epic story.
